ROCK Ferry Social headed the Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday League challenge in the Cheshire Sunday Cup first round, as they hit ten without reply at FX Leisure.
Goals from Craig Cairns (3), Josh Dunroe (2), Richie Owens (2), Terry New, Steve Jones and Jon Atkinson completed the rout.
Two goals apiece for Matty Smith and Sean Philips, with singles for Paul Oats and James Thomas, put King’s Arms through 6-3 against Willaston White Star.
Heygarth won 2-0 at Top House; Coffin and Robertson scoring and Shore Villa had two goals from Wheadon and one each from James and Clampitt in a 4-0 success over Thorne P&H.
Paul Devey (2) and Kevin Woods scored for Stirrup Sports & Social as they won 3-1 at Student Sixes and in an amazing game Bidston Hotel beat Prenton Dell (West, Ryan, Hannon, Sample) 8-4 after extra-time; Bolton and Hill with two goals each among Hotel’s scorers. Dock, Chuchwood and Brow all went out of the competition.
In the Wirral Junior Cup firts round, Beechwood Falcons triumphed 2-1 against The Sandbrook, with goals from Ashley Bell and Aaron Thomas.
Rangers Breaks lost narrowly 4-3 against FC Saviour; Dave Duffield (2), Karl Roberts and Rob McDonald scoring for Breaks.
Also out at the first hurdle are FC Ridger Athletic who lost 4-1 at The Black and Wirral Spartans who went down 8-1 at Higher Beb RBL; Scott Lewis getting the Spartans consolation.
First round action in the Wirral Youth Cup saw Shore Villa beat Heswall Athletic 4-1; James Barry (2), Lewis McNight and Ste Evans the scorers.
AC Hoylake went through 4-1 at Rossway Utd but Eastham Rangers bowed out at New Brighton, losing 5-0.
The Tony Smith Cup 1st Round saw AFC Houlihans (Kyle Kelly 2, Liam Cairns 2, Ben Hoyle, Graeme Walklett) win 6-2 at FC Ellies (Andy Cass, Paul Rowlands) and Chris McGowan got the only goal of the game as FC Ridger knocked out AFC Claughton.
In Division One, Birkenhead Youth B (Karlin Fleckner, Declan Iverson, Scott Connolly) won 3-2 at AFC Arrowe Park (Nick Kyriazi, Peter Cavanagh) and Saddle Club (Morgan, Harrison) had a 2-1 result over Lions (Ricky Harrison).
Shaftesbury Youth B had a convincing 6-2 victory over Merebrook (Danny Wilson, Keiran Hughes) in Divison Two; doubles from Ben Verdin and Mark Liu, added to Luke Walker and Daniel Caulfield efforts.
Ross Miller and Ryan Pleavin scored for Ashville Old Boys, as they defeated Millcroft (Dave McKeown) 2-1.
Allport Athletic moved clear at the top of Division Three thanks to goals from Joe Alkins and Mike Williams, in a 2-0 win over New Ferry Rangers.
Matty Langford hit a hat-trick for Old Parkonians (Wilson, Pleavin) as they inflicted Armchair Alliance’s first defeat of the season 5-3; Marrs, O’Connor and Farrall on target for Armchair.
Mike Bowe hit two and Jack Rook one, as Eswa beat FC Vaults (Pasco) 3-2.
In the Youth Division, Vauxhall Colts won 3-2 at Cammell Laird Youth (Jack Roberts, Nathan Crabtree).
Beechwood Youth won 4-1 at Glenavon Colts, with doubles from Liam Molloy and Alfie Banford; Danny Brooks netted the Glenavon goal.
