Wirral Sunday League round-up

FOLLOWING a tight 2-1 decision over MSC Eastham in midweek, Wirral Sunday League reigning Premier Division champions Neston Nomads upped the ante in their bid to retain the title, thanks to Sunday's 5-1 drubbing of Amazon Management.

Three-goal Trevor Worsley took the plaudits as Nomads retained pole position, and boasted maximum returns from their first three outings.Also on target were Andy Trotter and Paul Ellison.

Last season's Division One champions Towers stayed with Nomads on the nine points mark, and also boast a 100% record.

On Sunday, the Wallasey outfit accounted for Victoria Seniors with ha-trick hero, Kyle Williams, in top form in the 4-0 victory. Mike Vernon was the other scorer while third-placed Ashdale Athletic re-discovered the knack of winning after Mohamed Mukta claimed both goals in the 2-1 triumph over Clarence.

Ashdale were rocked in midweek after they lost to Railway Meols who pulled off a 4-2 result courtesy of efforts from Chris Gillespie, Mike Wainwright, Danny Burns and Kevin Smith.

The Railwaymen bagged another four against Tixall Prenton on Sunday, but had to come from 4-2 down to salvage a point. Tixies won 3-2 against Victoria Seniors on Thursday, and looked good for all three points after goals from Ryan Innes (2) Gary Parr and Adam Mazier had put them in the driving seat, but Railway hit back via Keith Smith, Peter Kershell, Tony Lamphier and Mike Wainwright to save the day.

MSC Eastham and Kent FC were united in their praise of referee John Stokes whose first aider skills came to the fore as the official expertly tended to Kent's broken leg victim, Ben Boylan.

Ravenscroft stayed three ponts ahead of the chasing pack in the Division One title race ,after they thumped Eagle & Crown 6-0 in midweek, and then beat fall guys, Bronze 2-0 at the weekend.

A 2-1 midweek defeat took the wind out of Windmill's sails, but the Beechwood out fit were back on song on Sunday, after Owen McMahon(3)Chris Brennan(2)Liam Williams(2) and Tyler Neill applied the finishing touches in consigning Astra Ath. to an 8-1 defeat.

Mike Neish (3) and Adam Coulls shared the goals as Shore Villa savoured a 5-2 result over Riverside but the efforts of Jay Little deserve a special mention, after he struck five times for Gallaghers in their 6-4 decision over Eagle & Crown. Andy Wilson (2) Jonathan Morrison and Colin Newton netted the Eagle's consolations.

Already looking a good bet for the Division Two title, are leaders, Higher Bebington RBL who strode to a 5-0 victory over promotion rivals, Forum Ath., with goals from Aaron Doyle (2) Simon Nethers, Ryan Clayford and an own goal.

Champions Bar won for the first time this season and at the same time deprived Bebington of their 100% record after Steve and Stuey Payne netted in Sunday's 2-0 success.

On the mark for Gladstone Athletic in their 4-2 win against Bee Hive, were Steve McGuiness (2),Grant Fowler and Dean McCrudden, while Lever Bushell were obliged to Kieran Latham (2) Ian Morgan and Sean Smith for clinching a comfortable 4-0 triumph over Star Ozzys.
