DESPITE the weather's best efforts to continue to disrupt the CWFL fixture programme, we have managed to work our way through 35 games this week alone with the club's co-operating by switching venues wherever possible to get games played.

Last Monday night in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One both Upton JFC and St Saviours had important wins ready for their clash on Wednesday.

The Sav's beat Chester Argyle 2-1 with Upton beating Helsby Reserves 4-1.

In CWFL Link Up Division Two Eastham Athletic, who are now bottom after Beehive withdrew from the season, had an important 2-0 victory over Princes Villa Reserves.

FC Duddon and Crossway shared the points in an eight-goal thriller.

Malpas beat Orange Athletic 5-3 and Rockville beat Rossmore Rangers 4-1.

On Wednesday Night Sutton Athletic became the latest team to sit aloft of the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division with a 3-1 win over Helsby.

In the highly-anticipated 1 V 2 game in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One game between Upton JFC and St Saviours it was the Ellesmere Port outfit that came away with the all-important 5-1 win.

They now sit just a point behind Upton but have two games in hand and third-placed Clubbies kept their hat in the ring with a 3-2 win over FC UBER.

In CWFL Link Up Division Two Eastham Athletic made two wins from two with a 2-0 win over Rockville and Hoole Youth travelled to Netherpool to pick up a 5-1 win over Princes Villa Reserves.

On Saturday it was cup day in the league with a CWFL Cayzer Shield Semi Final and 3 CWFL Roodee Web Design Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy taking place.

The CWFL Cayzer Shield Semi Final was a very close game from start to finish and was played out in glorious spring sunshine.

In the first half Cestrian scored first only for Elton to equalise shortly after.

The second half was a repeat of the first half. With the game forced into extra-time Cestrian scored in the first half.

Both teams had chances in the second half however Elton were unable to find an equaliser and Cestrian held on to win.

In the TGMT Newton Athletic v Crossway was a 'game of two halves' with Crossway leading 2 v 0 after the opening 20 mins.

Newton equalised on 40 mins then took a 3 v 2 lead just before half time.

The second half was dominated by Newton, scoring 8 times to Crossway's 1.

Ben Woodman scored a hat trick of penalties for Newton as well as scoring three from open play.

Newton's other scorers were Dan Eaton (2), Mike Richards, Dan Christianson and Andy Pownall (2).

Crossway goals came via Greg Campbell, Nathan Jones and Paul Seddon.

Joe Kirk scored twice for Christleton Celtic but it was not enough to stop their opponents, Shaftesbury Youth, booking a place in the semi finals with a 3-2 win thanks to goals from Lee Griffiths, Ryan Griffiths and Danny Whitehead.

Goalkeeper Josh Dymond put in a man of the match performance for Upton JFC as they beat premier division side Higher Bebington Kelma 2-1 with goals from Tom Berry (pen) and Dan Duff.

The keeper kept Kelma at bay with a string of fine saves and was only beaten by a Greg Biggs effort.

League action now and Blacon Youth Reserves were on fire as they sent Clubbies crashing to a 7-0 defeat in their CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One encounter.

James Lloyd lead the way with four followed by Lewis Coppack (2) and Raynor Grey.

Helsby Reserves picked up their fourth win of the season, beating Princes Villa 5-1 with goals from Lewis Fenton (3), Kyron Balogun and an own goal.

Malpas Reserves continue their impressive run of form in the CWFL Link Up Division Two with a resounding 10-3 win over Hoole Youth.

Lee Parry scored an incredible seven goals with Alex Hales, Luke Woolam and Kyron Munson also chipping in.

Jamie Hughes (3), Luke Williamson (2) and Jake Dean (2) were all on target for Upton Bears Paw in their 7-3 win over Orange Athletic who had John Webster (2) and Stu Drury on the scoresheet.

Rockville edged-out FC Duddon by the odd goal in five with goals from Danny Alan and Jason Rigby (2).

Duddon replied through Alex Ball and Will Ellwood.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 2 Higher Bebington Kelma Vets and Ashton Vets fought out a 2-2 draw.

Dave McNeil, Greg Bearsley and Mike Astbury, Stuart Mackie were the respective scorers.

In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division 3 Ellesmere Port Town Vets beat Capenhurst Villa Vets 5-3 with goals from Charlie McDaid, Luke Guest, Lee Stokes and Chris Nichols (2).

Capenhurst scorers were Antony Ashton (2) and Carl Ngiam.
