THE rain is still playing havoc with fixtures especially with midweek games.

While clubs are trying to play catch up, the league is grateful for the co-operation of all clubs while the league officers are putting extra shifts in get all games played.

It was an Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League clash in The Cheshire County Sunday Cup semi final between Heygarth (Lloyd Ithell, Chris Lea) and Dock AFC (Ryan Nicoll, John Clampitt) it took extra-time and penalties 4-2 for Dock to secure their place in the final.

A brace from Connor Egan for PSV Athletic was enough to claim a place in the next round of the Tony Houlihan Memorial Challenge defeating Saughall (Dylan Moore) 2-1, League action in the Premier Division saw a solitary goal from Dave Webb for Queens Park to take honours and the battle for the top couple of places with close rivals Rock Ferry Social.

In a mid table clash Great Float (Tyler Smith 2, Shaun Parrington, Lawrence Harris, Joel Aden) sunk Neston Nomads 5-0.

The games of the day in Division saw the back of the net bulge no less than 12 times between Lions FC (Ricky Harrison (2), Ameel Al Gamri, Samir Al Gamri, Steve Dutton pen) and AFC Houlihan's (Dega Taylor (3), Vinny O'Toole (2), Ricci Loughran and Ryan Atherton) in a terrific game enjoyed by all involved with the Claughton outfit running out 7-5 winners.

Ashville Old Boys (Ryan Pleavin) shared the spoils with Shaftesbury Youth in a key game with both teams looking to avoid the drop.

A double from Jamie Parker and a strike from Chris Georgeson gave Bushell Athletic maximum points at Swan FC.

Bogan's Carpets (Dunn 3, Varny 2, Kelly) chipped away against Willows FC with a splendid 6-1 scoreline in Division Two after the magic Carpet side registered a fine 3-2 win in midweek at FC Vaults.

There were goals galore in Division Three with Oval FC recording back to back wins 2-1 at Wirral Athletic in midweek and a superb 6-2 result at Victoria Vaults (Ryan Coles Josh Cross) thanks to John Skipsey 2.

Two from Rhys Varne supplemented by efforts from Simon Cook and Gregg Brewer to keep the Bebington Side in Pole position.

The shock result saw Wirral Radio (Matt Lyiate (4), Ian Watkins (3), Liam Blundell and Ash McCoy) post a comfortable win over Rangers Breaks (Rob Adams, Chris Carress) 9-2.

This Sunday sees the first of the league's cup finals At Cammell Lairds with the prestigious Veronica Conway Premier Cup (2pm kick off).

Due to the waterlogged pitches some of the league’s cup final have been changed and put back until early May, Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League is now accepting new applications to join for the 2018/2019 season.
