TRANMERE Rovers hit the road again this weekend as their National League campaign continues with an away fixture against Boreham Wood.

Micky Mellon's side picked up all three points away at Dagenham and Redbridge last weekend and will be looking to do so again at Meadow Park.

In an interview on the club's website, assistant Mike Jackson was pleased with last week's result and says competition for places is pushing them on.

"It was a good result, we were happy with it. At this stage of the season, I don't think you’re going to get great football matches, it's about finding ways of winning them.

"The lads went about it really well, it was hard to go two weeks without a game, on top of a week where we couldn’t really get any training done, but they got themselves around that and got the result which is all that matters.

"We've done 11 v 11 in training today, and I’ve said to them that the other 11 can play in this league, and they must keep driving each other on.

"It's a club effort, with every person involved right the way through from fans to players to the kit man."

On the injury front, Jackson reported there was some good news on that front.

"Jeff Hughes has trained today, so that’s good news.

"It’s good to have him back, he’s a good pro and offers good experience at this time of the season.

"Injury wise, we’ve just got young Evan Gumbs and Jake Kirby missing."
