ONLY four games on private grounds were able to take place last weekend in The Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Football League.
Stirrup Sports & Social rode to the final of the Jimmy Core Cup after a resounding 4-1 result at MSC Eastham (Craig Worthington), Stirrup had Paul Devey, Phil Hudson, James Evans and Jonathon Roberts on the scoresheet.
Shaftesbury Youth had hat trick hero Kyle Bennett and a brace from Sam Upton to thank with a superb win over Telegraph in the fourth round of the Tony Houlihan Memorial Challenge Cup.
The only two league games were in the Premier Division with the match of the day between Dock and Queens Park, Dock AFC sinking Queens Park (Lewis Willingham) 3-1.
Jay Clare, Ryan Nicoll and Mark Jones notched the all important goals.
West Kirby secured maximum points thanks to solo efforts from Rob Horgan and Colin O'Hanlon over Shaftesbury with a 2-0 scoreline.
Next Sunday will see an all-Houlihan's Birkenhead Sunday Football League clash in the prestigious Cheshire Sunday Cup semi Final between Heygarth FC and Dock AFC.
