ONCE again a few games were lost due to the weather most notable being the Wirral District Sunday Premier Cup semi finals.

The game of the day in the Houlihan’s Birkenhead Sunday Football League saw a very much local Derby in the Tony Houlihan Memorial Challenge Cup second round, with Shaftesbury Youth's John Wellman notching a fine treble after extra Time 3-1 against Shaftesbury (Phil Bryan).

Millhouse moved into the next round thanks to a double from Tom Quinn and an effort from Jamie Quinn in a similar 3-1 scoreline against Bedford FC (Carl Hamm).

Strikes from Mike Bristow (2), Jake Cripps, Lee Mathias, Christian Lewis and an own goal gave West Kirby Social a 6-0 convincing win at the expense of FC Vaults.

Matty O'Shea and Tom Briggs strikes were enough for Swan FC to progress to the next round of the David Tacy Cup at Bogan's Carpets running out 2-0 victors.

Jimmy Core Cup action saw Stirrup S&S (James Evans 2, John Duddy2, Philip Hudson, Paul Devey) register a 6-1 success at Victoria Vaults.

MSC Eastham (Laurence Whelan, Keith O’Toole) sailed to a narrow 2-1 win over Rangers Breaks (Chris Carress) Only five games survived the weather in three different divisions Terry Ainsworth scored a three-goal salvo supported by Sam Langan and Samir Al Gamri for Lions FC who notched their first league win in a 5-3 result over Bushells Athletic (Chris Georgeson, Jamie Parker, Mark Stading) while title favourites for the second Division Birch Tree secured maximum points with a 3-0 success at Lancelyn Glenavon.

The only game in Division three saw a nine goal thriller with Poulton Victoria Youth (Jason Bull (2), Brad Green, Louis Clarke, Jedda Bayley) posting a 5-4 win over Willows (Leon Jones (2), Bradley Brady, Jack Brooks).

Doubles from John Skipsey and Paddy Malkin with a single from Josh Ross was enough for high-flying Oval FC to notch up a superb 5-2 win in Division Three over luckless Higher Beb RCM (Andy Taylor 2).

A Jake Williams brace was not enough for Wirral Athletic going down 4-2 to Bierhaus who had hat trick hero Scott Billington and Sam Collingwood on the mark.
