EARLY inspections by Wirral Council resulted in all grounds being closed due to the heavy rain causing waterlogged pitches and so all games were postponed.

Initial games in the four divisions now sees only five teams still unbeaten with JASGA PV leading the way in the First division with six wins from six games and only conceding six goals – 666 seems a familiar number.

Only FC Phoenix remain 100% in the Dundee youth division with their burning ambition to take the title, but also unbeaten are new boys Groves FC who have claimed all but two points so far.

In the Grove youth division both Park Royal and Higher Beb U-17s are undefeated with the latter being unfortunate to have a number of fixtures cancelled for various reasons but are well placed for a title challenge.

Park Royal are second, but with games in hand, and look odds on to be in the title mix come the end of the season.

Due to personal reasons the ref's rep has had to withdraw from his duties for the foreseeable future but we are fortunate to have Wayne Kinnear stepping up to the plate to conduct the role and we are pleased to welcome him on board.

Wayne is a seasoned official having refereed in a number of leagues and his experience will be much appreciated by the League Management Committee and all the resident teams.

All teams and match officials are asked to make every effort to get scheduled fixtures played – weather permitting – and are also asked to communicate if and when early inspections may be required to save any unnecessary travelling taking place.

So please ensure early contact and confirmation takes place during the inclement weather.
