ALL eyes were focused on Cairnes Crescent in Blacon for the "Clash of the Titans" in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division between Blacon Youth and Birkenhead Town.

Blacon, with seven games in hand, are the only team that can catch Birkenhead so the pressure was on for the Town.

In a tight game with both teams showing real passion Blacon edged a 2-1 win meaning the title race will go right to the wire.

Lloyd Ellams hit the winner for Blacon with Ryan Atherton replying for the Town.

Second-placed Newton Athletic were pushed all the way for their 5-4 win over Lodge Bar.

Newton's scorers were Ben Woodman with a hattrick, Liam Bradley and Danny Morgan.

Ian Johnson hit the winner for Ellesmere Port in their 1-0 win over MBNA whilst Aaron Hinchcliffe (3), Josh Gannon and Chris Simmons were all on target for Christleton Celtic as they eased past Ellesmere Port Town Reserves 5-1; Ellis Williams hit the consolation for the Port.

Clubbies move into second place in the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One with a fine 3-0 over FC UBER with goals coming from Liam McGovern and Mikey Edwards (2).

New Ferry Rangers scored three in the last ten minutes of their game with Eastham, clinching the game 3-1.

Goalscorers were Scott Froggartt, Ben Malone and Lawrence Whelan for the Ferry with Lewis Stephenson scoring for the valiant Eastham.

Chester Argyle were the days top scorers as they beat AFC Quays 11-0 in their CWFL Link Up Division Two encounter.

Zach Caveney and Cam Black lead the charge with four apiece followed by Call Pepper with two and Matt Harland-Jones.

Sutton Athletic are still unbeaten and now are closing in on the Division Two title after a 4-0 win over Crossway with goals from Danny Higginson, Peter Barnett, Tom Edwards and Jordan Turnstall.

Ian Thomas (2) and Elliot Wright were both on target for Orange Athletic as they beat Hoole Youth 3-1.

In the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division A Steve Roughsedge, Phil Atkinson, Mark Baiton and Stu Fraser all combined to earn Frodsham Park Vets a 4-3 win over Tattenhall Vets.

In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division B Mike Jones netted a hat- trick and Sean O'Rourke a brace for Tarvin Vets as they beat Upton JFC Vets 5-0.

In CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division C Avenue Vets also had a 5-0 win, beating Bushell Athletic Vets with goals from Micky Edwards, Les Cotgreave, Lee Gibson, Paul Lacy and Kev Duffy.

Neston Nomads Vets beat Ellesmere Port Town Vets 6-0 and Mersey Royal Vets were awarded three points after Great Sutton Vets failed to raise a side.

In the CWFL Monday Night 11s Groves Athletic are sitting at the top of the pile after a 7-0 win over CEMEX thanks to goals from Lee Chadwick (4), Tom Douglas, Paul Gates and Davis Roxburgh.

In the nigh’ts other game Elton Athletic and Upton Rangers each took a point as they finished level at 3-3.

Elton's goals came courtesy of Adam Hall (2) and Sam Carr with Shan Gillan, Ryan Mooney and Kurt Clark replying for Upton.

The CWFL Friday Night 11s is now wide open after Blacon Vets could only muster a draw with Ashton Phoenix.

In a tight game Blacon had to come from behind twice to salvage a point with Ashton pushing hard for the win.

Dean Rattcliffe and Josh Forster were the Ashton marksmen.
