DEVA Athletic have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the CWFL Dee 106.3 League Cup after a hard-fought 1-0 victory away at Birkenhead Town.

Dom Kennedy was the difference between the two sides after hitting the winning goal midway through the second half.

They will be joined by Blacon Thistle after they saw off Franklyn's 7-1 with goals from Adam Stenning (2), Joe Henry, James Henry, Danny Davies, Ross Broadbent and debutant Lloyd Ellams. James Shaw hit the consolation for Franklyn's.

The next round will now be played in late March with some mouth-watering games on the cards.

The top teams in the Premier Division and Division One will be up against each other with the prospect of a stadium final on the cards.

The quarter-final line up has also been decided for the CWFL Goals Chester Cayzer Shield.

Ashton booked their place in the last eight after a fine 8-0 win away to Lodge Bar II.

A brace a piece for Paul Gunderson, Ash Watlin and Tom Port with further goals from Dean Rattcliffe and Darrell Free - man see them safely through.

League action now and Lache FC are once again the front-runners in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division.

Lache travelled to Ellesmere Port Town Reserves and with the game poised 1-1 at half- time it looked to be a tight affair.

However, in the second half and with Andy Dutton’s words still ringing in their ears, Lache settled down to add a further six goals without reply to run out 7-1 winners.

Liam Brannon hit the Town goal in the first half with the Lache winners coming from Tom Bailey, Scott Beach, Sam Spridgeon (2), Leon Whitley (2) and veteran super-sub Dale Gilmartin with his first touch of the game.

Ellesmere Port drop down to second after only managing a draw at home to Higher Bebington Kelma.

Luke Walker and Ben Keirman had given Kelma the lead but a second half brace from Ryan Abraham earned a point for the Port.

In the CWFL Olympic Trophies Division One Newton Athletic retain their top place after a 3-0 away win to Neston Town thanks to scorers Liam Bradley, Lewis Davenport and Kike McIntyre.

Cestrian Alex eased their relegation worries with a 4-3 win over fellow strugglers Elton Athletic.

Whitby Athletic Reserves trav - elled to Neston Nomads Reserves and came away with all three points after a 4-0 win thanks to strikes from James Selkirk (3) and Paddy Hamid.

MBNA remain unbeaten since August in the CWFL Link Up Division Two after beating Clubbies 3-0. MBNA started off slowly and Clubbies were on top but the MBNA defence stood firm.

Gary Higgins and Ryan Chatburn were starting to cause Clubbies trouble down the left side and a Ryan Chatburn cross was expertly headed in by twin brother Dan with the assistance of the crossbar.

Ryan then won a penalty after be - ing brought down by the defender in the box. Ryan scored the result - ing spot kick to take MBNA into a 2-0 lead at half time.

The second half MBNA started well and another link up between the twins won another penalty.

Ryan again scored and MBNA went on to see the game out 3-0. Eastham Athletic had Danny James to thank for both their goals in a 2-1 victory over Woodchurch Athletic.

Harry Lea hit an 85th-minute equaliser for Elton Rigger as they earned a point after a 1-1 draw with Ellesmere Port Town III. Gary Handley, Adam Roper (2) and Andy Riddell were all on target for Hoole Rangers as they beat Ellesmere Port Spartans 6-0.
