ONCE again the CWFL schedule was severly hit due to the weather with only two games surviving the downpour.
In the Roodee Web Designs Tom Gerraghty Memorial Trophy round two Lodge Bar Reserves entertained Ellesmere Port Town III, losing 3-2.
Lodge struggled through out the match to get the better of their opponents after going a goal down in the opening two minutes.
They got an equaliser midway through the first half and then appeared to have scored a quick second, but it was called offside by the referee.
Although Lodge took the lead midway through the second half through a disputed penalty that the goalie saved, but Lodge scored on the rebound, they were unable to make the most of some good chances.
With ten minutes to go Ellesmere Port made the most of a penalty box scramble, slotting home from close range to bring the game level.
Then, with four minutes to go they scored the winning goal that takes them through to the last 16.
The Lodge scorers were Cory Blaylock and Joey Waters with the Ellesmere Port winners coming courtesy of Rob Greenway, Lewis Anderson and Charlie Jones.
The only other game to survive was in the CWFL Tarvin Precision Vets Division where Tarvin Vets went down 2-1 at home to Ashton Vets.
Kevin Rogerson hit the consolation for Tarvin with Ashton’s winners coming via Stuart Mackie and Paul Stubbs.
