ONLY eight games survived this weekend's weather in the Chester and Wirral Football League.

In the CDFA Challenge Cup, Kelsall had Adam Crimes (3), Tom Christopher (2), Tom Peters, Sean Page and Sam Telford to thank for their 8-2 win over Hoole Rangers.

In a game of two halves Lodge Bar progress through to round three after beating Deva Athletic 3-2.

Lodge were trailing 2-0 at the break after Lee Constantine and Darragh O’Callaghan had given Deva the advantage.

But second half goals from Adi Callaghan, Tom Smith and the in-form Illya Haycock see Lodge into the hat for round three.

MBNA are also in the hat after a 4-1 win over Chester Nomads III.

MBNA took an early two goal lead after strikes from Gaz Edwards and Paul Rambaldi but Nomads were not about to concede and fought back to make it 2-1 at the break.

The second half was more comfortable for the bankers after Craig Spence converted a Dan Chatburn cross and Paul Jones completed the scoring with a stunning volley.

Holders Lache opted to give up home advantage so their game could take place against Ashton as Mount Pleasant was unfit.

Andy Dutton’s men must have thought that they had made the wrong decision after Ashton took an early two-goal lead but strikes from Tommy Booth (2), Leon Whitley, Tom Bailey and Sam Spridgeon saw them run out 5-2 winners.

In the round’s other game Crossway were beaten comprehensively 10-0 by West Cheshire side Chester Nomads II.

Newton Athletic moved into the quarter finals of the CWFL Dee 1063 League Cup after seeing off Premier Division outfit Ellesmere Port Town Reserves 6-0.

Their goals came from Marc Moorefield (2), Lewis Davenport, Adam Pownall, Dan Eaton and an own-goal.

In the CWFL Goals Soccer Centre Chester Cayzer Shield Ellesmere Port Spartans are also in the last eight after beating Orange Athletic 5-3. Lee Hurne led the way with a hat-trick with further goals courtesy of Josh Leadham and Paul Murphy.

In the only league game to take place, Whitby Athletic entertained Christleton Celtic in the CWFL Queensferry Sports Premier Division.

The game was played at the new EPIC Centre 3G pitch in Ellesmere Port after Whitby's home pitch deemed unplayable by the local authority.

Despite Whitby’s best efforts in arranging the alternative venue at some considerable cost they ended up on the wrong side of a 6-3 scoreline.

Callum Bratley (3), Chris Simmons (2) and an own-goal gave the points to Christleton with James Atkins (2) and Sean Weaver (pen), replying for Whitby.
