UNDERDOGS Grange Hearts provided new blood in the Capitol Cup Final and made their Moreton neighbours Millhouse work very hard for their 2-0 success as they retained the trophy for the third year running.

An even first half saw no goals, but after much pressure Tom Quinn opened the scoring for Millhouse and when Liam Jameson added the second with 15 minutes left the trophy was destined for Paul Greenslade's squad.

However, the game was played in a great atmosphere for a good crowd and showed the true depth of quality within the league as both sides put in a great performance.

West Kirby Wasps claimed runners-up spot in the Dundee Youth division when defeating Ashville Youth (Kieran Hamm) 2-1, with Declan Kinnear and Jack Ireland grabbing the goals.

Victoria Colts finished third following their 3-2 defeat of Cammell Lairds 1907 after Pete Monroe, Tom Morgan and Jake Byrne found the net.

The final fixture in the Grove Youth division saw Gayton JFC collect all three points to finish as runners-up when beating a hard working Saints AFC 3-1, as Farris Ramzy notched a brace of goals and Andy Morris fired a single to edge them above Beechwood Falcons by two points.

Division Two action saw Olympic Rangers on the winning podium as they beat Vineyard 5-2, thanks to a treble from Martin Lewis and singles from Stephen Teale and Aaron Mawdsley, with Mark Oakley bagging a double in reply.

The last cup final of the season saw the top two from the Premier division go head-to-head for the Magee Cup and coming out on top were Great Float S&S in a thrilling fixture versus Millhouse that was well policed by the three officials of Rhys Buck, Alex Heslop and Tony Hardwick.

First blood went to Float within five minutes as Lee Bridge powered home a header from a corner, but as Millhouse fought back, James Clare rifled home a superb free kick to level matters.

The game then ebbed and flowed but Float struck again before the interval as James Harris pounced to nod home as the ball rebounded from the woodwork to give Float a half time lead.

Harris then netted a brilliant second early in the second period, before Perrie Black basted home a superb penalty to provide the crowd with a nerve-tingling finish that saw Float keeper John Hodgin make a few good saves and the woodwork kept out a gallant late rally by Millhouse.

Robbie Black (Float) and Tom Quinn (Millhouse) earned the man of the match awards, but in well fought fixture even more could have claimed those prizes.

Commiserations were provided to the Millhouse for an excellent effort, but many congratulations were given to the Float for a great team effort that earned them the oldest cup in the history of the league and denied Millhouse the chance of taking a third trophy.
