THE Cheshire FA Amateur Cup remains in the hands of the Carlsberg West Cheshire League for an 11th successive season, after West Krby defied the odds and turned a 3-1 deficit against Cheshire Association outfit Rudheath Social into a 4-3 injury time triumph.

Joe Heath gave Kirby the lead, but Rudheath hit back and were firmly in the driving seat at 3-1, with 20 minutes remaining, before replies from Ian Brunt, substitute, Lee Gibson and a dramatic injury time winner from Dave Bowe capped an amazing fightback.

In Monday's Wirral & District FA Amateur Cup final, Willaston emerged 2-0 victors after quiickfire goals from Billy New and substitute, Andy Noonan, sealed gallant Capenhurst Villa Reserves' fate.

On the domestic scene, the situation at the top of Division One saw another twist, after Cammell Laird 1907 Res. lost 1-0 to a goal from Hale's Brad Williams, which subsequently handed the balance of power back to current leaders, South Liverpool, who celebrated a 5-0 result at Upton AA, inspired by a four goal blast from Cameron Dalton.

A smart double from speed merchant, Matty Johnson, anchored third placed Helsby to a 2-0 win against Capenhurst Villa, and Dave Kelly followed suit, with an opportunist brace, as Mossley Hill Athletic clinched a 3-2 decision over Chester Nomads.

Callum Holmes also netted for the winners, while two goal Ed Moss replied for visitors.

Despite goals from Kevin Walker and Chris Hughes, second-placed Heswall suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Redgate Rovers but securing the second promotion spot in Division Two still appears well within their grasp.

Respective marksmen in Ashville Reserves' 3-3 stalemate with Bebington Ath., were Connor Murphy (2), Ryan Clarke, Kieran Phillips, Steve Forbes and Ben Phillips.

Kurtis Albidjan, Joe Connolly and Nathan Quirk applied the finishing touches, as Gateacre Village triumphed 3-0 at West Kirby Res. while relegation-threatened Marshalls savoured an important 4-0 win against Vauxhalls in their bid to avaoid the drop.

Contributions from Darren Linnel, Dan Grace, Dan Forrester and an own goal confirmed the scoreline.

Neston Nomads continued to attack from off the pace in their attemps to bag a Division Three promotion place. After winning 1-0 at Capenhurst Villa Res. on Thursday, efforts from Paul Ellison (2), Ben Pearson and John Lloyd helped them to a 4-0 win over Chester Nomads Res.

The result moved them to within four points of second placed South Liverpool Res, with three games in hand.

Doubles from Dean Jones and John Thompson, were supplemented by a goal from Ameen Salim as Everton PLH romped home a 5-1 against over Marshalls Res.and a John Milner double sparked Belfry to a 4-0 win at FC St Helens.

Elsewhere, efforts from Capenhurst Villa Reserves' Matty Scott and Shane Whelan were negated by replies from Heswall Res' Luke Blondell and Ross Pringle.

Congratulations to South Liverpool Youth, who were crowned Youth Division Champions on Saturday, after they posted a 3-0 result at Chester Nomads Youth.

Extra-time proved beneficial to West Kirby Youth, who progressed to the Youth Plate final after they overcame Belfry Youth 3-2 with goals from Tom Johnstone, Ben Glover and Wes Richardson.

West Cheshire followers are reminded that the Chester & District FA Challenge Cup Final takes place this Friday evening, April 17 at Christleton, 6.30pm between West Cheshire representatives, Upton AA Res. and Lache.
