THE semi-finals of the Capitol Cup took place and witnessed a major upset as Grange Hearts pumped themselves up to beat premier team Liscard Bronze 2-0 that required extra time to seal the victory.

Goal heroes on the day were Jay Rice and Dave Walmsley in a superb team effort.

They will now meet Millhouse who ground out a 3-2 success over Ship Wallasey as goals from Danny McGill, Paul Cupit and Mike New sunk their gallant opponents. Kyle Birch netted a brace in reply in a pulsating fixture.

The only Premier division game saw Great Float S&S wash away Windsor in a 4-0 win that saw singles from Sean Mooney, Lee Dermody, Daren Pritchard and Sean Parrington do the damage and keep them in contention for runners-up spot.

Division Two action saw Wallasey Oval virtually seal the title following their hard earned 2-0 win away at Eastham Rangers thanks to a goal apiece from Tom Ward and Ollie Bradley and they hope to add the Dutchman Cup to their prize haul after beating Wallasey Town in midweek 4-1.

Still hoping to finish second are Parkview who edged out Vineyard 4-3 in a seven goal thriller.

Goals from Chris Dolan-2, James Dolan and Jay Rigby earned the points despite efforts from Liam Williams, Rob Ellis and Mike Chwalko registering for Vineyard who also lost out to Parkview 2-1 in midweek in the Dutchman Cup semi final.

Nelson Grove shared the points with Olympic Rangers as they drew 1-1, with Mark Redgrift and Stephen Teale being the scorers.

Top of the table clash in the Dundee Youth division resulted in a slender 1-0 victory for champions AFC Liverpool against a very unlucky Cammell Laird 1907 team who pushed them all the way in a great contest hampered by the high winds, but a Dion George goal secured the points.

Despite a Callum Hughes goal Ashville Youth were beaten by an injury time goal against West Kirby Wasps as they lost 2-1.

The title hopes of Shaftesbury Youth in the Grove Youth division were severely dented when losing 4-3 against Gayton JFC, who had Will O’Leary, Danny Murphy and Casey Ford-2 as their marksmen.

On target for Shafts were Liam McCrellis, Sean Taylor and Jacob McLachlan in a great game. A solitary goal from James Parnell was not enough for Shore Villa as they lost 3-1 against Glenavon and Princes Villa were dethroned by Saints AFC when losing 5-0.

All teams MUST be advised that scheduled fixtures may still be altered to accommodate outstanding fixtures that effect league places and cup games, even if open dates have already been advertised.
