THE League was assured of representation in this season's Cheshire County FA Amateur Cup final, after efforts from Jon Strange and Liam Simon anchored West Kirby to a 2-1 decision over Broadheath Central following Wednesday's hard fought semi-final.

Victory for Capenhurst Villa in the other semi against Rudheath Social, would confirm an all West Cheshire affair.

On the domestic scene, Cammell Laird 1907 Reserves eroded South Liverpool's lead at the top of Division One to four points with a game in hand after they won 2-1 at Maghull, courtesy of a goal apiece from Jack Ford and Ben Holmes.

Mike Cummings was on the mark for the hosts.

Ashville's hopes of safeguarding their top flight status were boosted when Tom Harris and Kyle Birch obliged in Saturday's 2-1 eclipse of fellow strugglers, Southport Trinity, while a solitary strike from Dom Holden earned Vauxhall Motors the nod over Upton AA.

Elsewhere, a smart double from Simon Edwards was supplemented by a goal from the hardworking Dale Harris, as Chester Nomads overcame Newton 3-0.

In Division Two, leaders Rainhill Town increased their advantage at the top to thirteen points, after they posted a 5-3 win over Prescot Cables Reserves, inspired by a double from Colm Lynch.

Nearest rivals, Richmond MAGS, forfeited ground following a 1-1 stalemate at Hale Res, and that result allowed third placed Heswall to take closer order, after four-goal Andy Kingan left his calling card in the 8-0 rout of Ashville Res.

At the other end of the table, long suffering Bebington Ath. made it two wins on the trot after a hat trick from James Caul sparked their 3-1 win over Gateacre Village.

Despite efforts from Brinsley Bailey and Dave Kelly, Mossley Hill Ath. Res. capitulated 4-2 to replies from Willaston's Trevor Worsley, Aiden Winstanley, Squeak Clarkson and Jamie Gardiner.

Two goals from Paul Leaney and one from Mike Brown helped Redgate Rovers to a fine 3-1 result over Vauxhall Motors Res, while Mike Fitzgibbon and Luke Rafferty made the scoresheet in Maghull Res' 2-1 success at West Kirby Res.

The wheels came off second placed Bootle Res' title challenge in Division Three, after they were humbled 4-0 at Upton AA Res.

Steve Millington (2), Mike Murray and Callum Hughes netted for the Chester outfit and it was a similar tale of woe from third placed South Liverpool Res, who dipped 2-1 to promotion outsiders, Neston Nomads.

Paul Ellison and Ben Pearson were on target as Nomads turned one of their several games in hand into another three points.

A goal from Everton PLH's Pete Sumner was scant reward as visitors, Belfry savoured a goal feast.. John Milner (3), Jordan Stafford, Jason Wilson, Craig Drifel and Jamie Ranford netted in the 7-1 triumph.

In contrast, Ryan Nichol and Phil Quilian found the net, as Capenhurst Villa Res beat Chester Nomads Res 2-1.

Nomads Youth side took the honours in their Youth Plate clash at Maghull Youth when efforts from Will Carter and Kai Jones secured a 2-0 verdict.
