FINALISTS for the League's Challenge Cup were resolved at the weekend after cup holders Kent FC won through for a showdown with 2013 winners Neston Nomads.

Both tussles were evenly contested, and although results ran in keeping with current form, a solitary goal decided one semi while the other was settled in extra-time.

In a close game between Neston Nomads and Telegraph played in an excellent spirit, a second half goal from Lewis Clarke sealed Telegraph's fate but it needed extra-time to resolve the issue between Kent and newcomers, Grace Arms.

It was Kent who got the breaks in the extra period and posted a 4-1 results, thanks to efforts from Danny Morley (2), Isaac Bedford and an own goal. Paul Davies bagged Grace's consolation.

In Division One, second placed Riverside spurned the chance to make inroads into Kent's lead at the top after they finished 2-2 with battling Woodchurch Rovers.

Division Two action saw Wallasey Athletic dislodge Port Sunlight from top spot on goal difference after they put luckless MSC Eastham to the sword.

Sunday's 9-0 victory was highlighted by a Danny Price hat trick supported by doubles from John Berry and Danny Nettleton.

The game between Halfway House and Star Ozzys was keenly contested and although Halfway led 2-1 with Chris Spinks and Joe Skinner on target, it took a superb 85th-minute penalty save from Andy Palin to deny Ozzys a share of the spoils.

Mike Campbell, Alan Fowlie and Carl Lewis netted for Bronze, but it was Victoria Colts Seniors who profited, inspired by man of the match Liam Leyfield.

Doubles from Gareth Dickinson and Colin Westbury clinched a 4-3 win for Vics after the hosts had staged a spirited second half fight back.

The Wirral Sunday League has a limited number of vacancies for clubs wishing to join for season 2015/16.
