CAPENHURST Villa shook off the disappointment of the previous week's Wirral Senior semi-final exit, after they overcame rival Division One outfit West Kirby and secured their place in the Pyke Cup semi-finals.

Cape's marksmen in Saturday's 3-2 triumph, were Kyle Smythe, Rob McDowell and Phil Strap. Ian Brunt and Liam Atherton replied for the visitors.

Saturday's Division One action saw Vauxhall's first team get the better of relegation threatened Ashville, with John Atkinson responsible for both goals in a 2-0 success.

Mike Massey obliged for Hale, but it was Mossley Hill Athletic who profited after efforts from Yusef Malik and Tom McNaman sealed a 2-1 win, while a Dan Ricketts penalty earned Maghull maximum spoils from their trip to Upton AA.

Elsewhere, ninety minutes failed to produce a goal between Mallaby and Chester visitors Blacon YC.

Division Two leaders, Rainhill Town were indebted to goals from Tyler Jeffries and Matt Dooling which clinhed a 2-1 result over Gateacre Village and preserved their eleven point advantage at the top.

Luke Blondell fired a four goal salvo as Heswall Res., romped home 10-1 at Everton PLH , but Dale Higham went one better with a five-goal haul as Upton AA Res won 8-0 at Mersey Royal.

Two goal hot-shot Jordan Stafford left his calling card as Belfry beat Chester Nomads Res. 3-0 while a Jackson Ellis effort and an own goal helped Bootle Res. to a 2-0 victory over FC St Helens.

Alex Griffiths, Dave Mee and Alex Walsh found the net as Youth Division leaders, South Liverpool Youth, stayed twelve points in credit at the top, following a 3-1 triumph over Custys.

Second-placed West Kirby Youth, who have four games in hand on the leaders, won 5-0 at Vauxhall Youth, courtesy of goals from Matt Croft (2), Tommy Johnstone, Kieran Donohue and Phil Humphries.
