TRANMERE Rovers face Cambridge United in League Two action at Prenton Park tonight.

It will be the 23rd time the two clubs have met.

Cambridge currently hold a nine wins to seven advantage in past matches, including their 2-1 home win in the most recent game between the clubs back in April 2002.

Rovers' third game in week, the Prenton Park fixture comes days after Max Power sealed their place in the FA Cup third with a 2-1 win against Oxford United and set up a home tie against Swansea.

Power also earned a hard-fought victory over Dagenham in League Two action at Victoria Road last Saturday.

Rovers' boss Micky Adams hopes his squad, now 22nd on the table with 18 points, will make it three wins in a row tonight.

Looking forward to the game - which will be followed by a League Two match against Burton Albion on Boxing Day - Adams said during a press conference at Prenton Park yesterday: "We want to make the most of it.

"Traditionally, the last home game before Christmas is, generally, poorly attended, we understand that.

“We want to entertain the fans and send them into Christmas feeling good about their football team.

"Looking at Cambridge, they will be looking for honours in the top seven of the season.

"They are a big, big side with some good players. We're going to have to compete with them physically, particiularly in set pieces, where they are particularly.

"But the emphasis is on us again. While we are mindful of Cambridge's strength, we have to be mindful of our own performance and get that right.

"When you get into a long sequence of not winning games, you have to get the habit back. We understand now what's needed to win games of football.

"Individually we can't do it, we need everybody to be pulling in the right direction. Nobody hands you wins at this level, you have to work as hard as you can to get them.

"The squad is the same that played on Tuesday; there will be no additions to that."
