TRANMERE Rovers' player coach Matt Gill has left the club by mutual agreement this afternoon.

The 34-year-old came to Prenton Park in the summer as player coach before being appointed assistant manager in September.

He made ten appearances for Rovers and took charge of the first team at Oxford United.

Manager Micky Adams said: "Matt has been a consummate professional during my short time here and I’d like to wish him all the best for the future."

Chairman Mark Palios said: "Matt has shown a fantastic attitude in his five months at the club and I’m sure he has a bright future in coaching ahead of him."

Matt Gill added: “I've had a good chat with Micky and we both feel that it’s in my best interests for me to have a fresh start.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Tranmere and would like to thank the fans for all the support they’ve given me and my team mates this season.

"I wish the manager and the club the best of luck for the rest of the season and hope the team can quickly climb the table."
