INSPIRED by a fine hat-trick from Jamie Payne and a double from man-of-the-match Sam Adams, Champions Bar snatched pole position in the league's Division Two title race.

Their 5-0 thumping of Bromborough saw Champs go a point ahead of nearest rivals Greave, who had Julian Gorbutt on target, but suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bronze.

Joe Ellison and Alan Fowlie found the net for the winners.

Despite the slip-up however, it's still Greave's title to lose as maximum returns from their remaining two fixtures will see the Upton challengers crowned champions.

Wirral Athletic gave it their best shot and scored via Steve Herd (2) and Ben Winstanley before they went down 4-3 to third-placed Gladstone Athletic.

Sunday's Division One action saw form side Primrose Liscard in fine fettle against a depleted Forum Athletic, who had Chris Jones and Jordan Varney on the score sheet, but capitulated 9-2.

Hero of the hour was live wire Jordan Griffiths, who struck five times and included a spectacular long-range effort in his contribution.

A hat-trick from Chris Galvin and a Leon Beckter effort completed the statistics.

Two goals from Kieran Latham (2) supplemented by further efforts from Joe Lloyd and Danny Wood were enough, as Lever Bushell Athletic won 4-2 against Bromborough Social.

Division One leaders Bebington progressed to the Pyke Cup final after they accounted for Division Two minnows Port Sunlight 3-1.

In the day's only Premier Division clash, a superb overhead kick from Paul Ellison salvaged a point for Neston Nomads in their 1-1 stalemate with nearest rivals Riverside.

Wirral Sunday League followers are reminded the first of the domestic finals takes place this Thursday evening, April 17, at Cammell Laird.

Lever Bushell Athletic and Wallasey Town Athletic will lock horns to contest the Senior Cup Final. Kick off 6.30pm.
