Carlsberg West Cheshire League

RIVAL Carlsberg West Cheshire League Division One sides Vauxhall Motors Reserves and West Kirby will face each other in this season's Wirral & District FA Senior Cup final.

On Saturday, Motors accounted for Heswall, with Christian Banasko (2), Alex Clare and Jason Renshaw on the mark in a 4-2 victory, while a smart double from Terry Cotgrave anchored Kirby to a 2-1 decision over cup holders Ashville.

In the Chester Senior Cup third round, Owen Kelsey's hat-trick was supplemented by further efforts from Simon Andrews, Nathan Mapletoft and Darren Wallace as Upton AA beat Wagon & Horses 6-3.

Local rivals Blacon YC also progressed to the last four, after they won 2-0 against Lache with goals from Aiden Shannon and Lee McElmeel.

On the domestic scene, Hale's 5-0 eclipse of Mossley Hill Athletic saw them edge nearer mid-table sanctuary in Division One.

Anthony Gray (2), Bradley Williams, Paul Hart and Chris Smith were the hot-shots, while Marine Reserves climbed to fifth place after James Hooper, Andy Vernan and Jake Worrall obliged in Saturday's 3-0 success at Chester Nomads.

Division Two leaders South Liverpool stayed six points in credit at the top after Alex Woodcock struck twice in a hard earned 2-1 result at Bebington Athletic.

Nearest rivals Maghull Reserves posted a 2-1 win at Ashville Reserves courtesy of a goal apiece from Farshad Baqar Parvas and Jason Thomas.

Four-goal Mike Banks and two-goal Simon Thelwell-Wilson shared the spoils as an in-form Capenhurst Villa romped home 6-1 at Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves.

Efforts from Ryan Pickles, Francis Mkatma and and own goal were negated by an Andy Kingham hat-trick as hosts Prescot Prescot Cables Reserves and Manor Athletic finished 3-3.

Bottom club Mersey Royal had cause for celebration after they pulled off a creditable 3-2 win over Helsby.

Deividas Kapustas was a two-goal hero, and Peter Rutter followed suit with two for Willaston in their 3-1 victory against Heswall Reserves.

Elsewhere, Richmond Raith Rovers with Ali Bermingham, Robbie Madine, Ryan Miller, Ryan Perry and Paul Gouthwaite on target, savoured a 5-3 win against West Kirby Reserves.

H & WC Youth Division leaders Gateacre Youth pulled two points clear of the chasing pack, after they beat Beechwood Athletic 94/95 4-1 with efforts from Matt Lundy, Jonathan Walters, Matt Shore and Kristian O'Reilly.
