Stott hits two but Motors draw
11:12am Tuesday 5th February 2013 in Sport By Phil Jarvis
Ashley Stott
ASHLEY Stott scored both goals as Motors took the lead twice but had to be content in the end with a point at St George's Lane.
Motors started brightly and made all the early running so it was no surprise when they took a deserved lead after just nine minutes.
Tom Rutter whipped in a free-kick which was only half cleared by Danny Glover and Stott was on hand to send a delightful volley beyond Worcester keeper Glyn Thompson.
The home side started to claw their way back into the game and drew level on 28 minutes when a clever Greg Mills ball put Danny Glover through on goal who kept his nerve and took the ball past Zac Jones and fire home from a tight angle.
Just three minutes after the interval, the impressive Craig Mahon was fouled in the area by Rob Elvins for a penalty however Stott fired the spot-kick straight at Glyn Thompson down the middle and the scores remained level.
The Motormen piled on the pressure with Louis Barnes having a free-kick well saved by Thompson then the Worcester keeper did well to block a Craig Mahon effort.
Vauxhalls did eventually regain the lead on 66 minutes when Stuart Whitehead tried to head the ball back to Thompson however he left it short and Stott pounced to nip in and tap home his sixth league goal of the season.
With ten minutes remaining, Worcester drew level again when Elvins finished off a neat move by the home side by squaring the ball off for Glover who hit a fine strike into the top corner of the net for his second of the game.
