Motormen miss out

A BATTLING performance from the Motormen almost earned a point at Nethermoor Park however Guiseley defender Mark Bower grabbed an 88th minute winner to secure a narrow victory for the home side.

The first 20 minutes proved to be fairly uneventful with both sides struggling to make any impact on the game.

For the remainder of the first-half however, Gusieley took control and Motors had in-form keeper Zac Jones to thank for two tremendous saves in quick succession from James Walshaw and Danny Boshell.

Just one minute before the interval, the home side took the lead when Guiseley captain Mark Bower powered home a header beyond Jones for the opener.

In the second-half, Guiseley took their foot off the pedal but still managed to have plenty of possession and ex-Motors striker Josh Wilson could have had a hat-trick, his last effort a superb curling shot that cannoned off the bar.

Having absorbed the onslaught, Motors came out of their shell and went close on a couple of occasions before they were awarded a free kick 20 yards out on 79 minutes.

Former Guiseley midfielder Michael Burns stepped up and his left footed shot rebounded off the wall however Tom Rutter was on hand to steer the loose ball home at the far post to level matters.

The game looked to be heading for a draw however, with two minutes remaining, it was Bower who rose once again to claim all three points with another thumping header.
