A SPARKLING unbeaten 155 including six sixes and a dozen fours from Lou Vincent could not bring about victory for Oxton in their Chapel Press Cheshire County League Premier Division clash at home to Chester Broughton Hall.

The Birkenhead side amassed 288-6 after being put in to bat but the visitors played out a draw as they closed 107 runs adrift with two wickets intact.

Neston went down by nine wickets at Nantwich where Andy Murphy contributed a half century.

Upton had to be content with a Division Two draw at Stockport. Players in form were Matt Ingram 46, Matthew Smith 45 and Simon Magowan 5-48.

New Brighton fell by six wickets at Lytham in the Premier Division of the Liverpool and District Competition. Tom Horrocks just missed out on a half century for the seasiders but their 180 total after batting first was never going to be enough.

Wallasey suffered a rare defeat in Division One at the hands of Northop Hall. The local side totalled 171 with sound contributions from Jack Leckey 49 and Alex Eagles 48 but the visitors reached the target with four wickets in hand.

Parkfield Liscard came away 107 runs to the good from Wavertree in Division Two but Birkenhead St Mary’s, Caldy and Birkenhead Park all tasted defeat.

Grant Hughes top scored with 56 for Parkfield and the bowlers to shine were Matt Keogh 4-37 and Kamran Hussein 4-34.

Zahid Mohammed claimed 5-36 for Birkenhead St Mary’s who missed out by 44 runs against Burscough.

Chris Stenhouse 31 and 3-44 did his best for Birkenhnead Park in a 96 runs reverse at Sutton.

Andy Potter made 37 for Caldy who were on the wrong side of a five wickets margin at home to Old Xaverians.

Parkonians (Tim Hitchell 64) went down by four wickets at home to Saughall in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Port Sunlight took the Division Three derby at Eastham Bromborough by 49 runs. Brett Greve was well to the fore with 51 and 3-25. Martin Naylor took 4-38.

Tranmere Vics were far too strong for the Frodsham second string. They posted 207-3 with good knocks from Jonathan Bennett 65, Gary Francis 61 and Mark O’Brian 58. Kisanth Varatharaju then destroyed the home innings with 6-7 in nine overs.

Wirral hung on for a draw at Langley in Division Three of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League. Their last pair were together with the deficit still 27 runs.
