A VALIANT effort by all rounder Neil Cross could not prevent New Brighton from losing at home to Ormskirk in the Premier Division of the Bridging Finance Solutions Liverpool.

Neil top-scored with 65 and claimed 7-43 but the visitors enjoyed a 37 runs margin.

Wallasey had to settle for a draw at Sefton Park in Division One.

Michael Currey included fifteen fours and a six in his unbeaten 113 and Chris Bourne took 4-49 but at the close Sefton were on 179-9 chasing a declared 224-9 total.

Birkenhead Park cruised to a nine wickets success against Skelmersdale in Division Two.

Chris Stenhouse 5-59 and Matt Howard 5-8 restricted the visitors to 111. Park used 31 overs to ease past the total with Ian Cooper 53 not out.

Caldy were dismissed for 80 and fell by eight wickets at home to Burscough.

It was better for Parkfield Liscard who came away 69 runs to the good from Sutton. Kamran Hussein top scored with 71 and Grant Hughes finished with 5-23.

The St Helens Recs v Birkenhead St Mary’s match was not started.

An unbeaten stand of 25 by the last Toft pair prevented Neston from winning in the Premier Division of the Chapel Press Cheshire County League Toft closed on 208-9 after Neston posted 237-7 declared. Best for the home side were Luke Camden 83,

Andy Roberts 52 and Chad Wilson 4-76.

Oxton went under by seven wickets at home to Alderley Edge. They totalled only 113 after being put in by the opposition.

Irby beat Sale by 26 runs in Division One with good performances from Rob Houghton 7-58 and 45 not out, Josh Mallichan 63 not out and Greg Shillinglaw 47.

Gary Dixon 6-46, Jared Van Heerden 47 not out and Matt Ingram 40 carried Upton to a six wickets Division Two victory over Poynton.

Parkonians enjoyed a welcome success at home to Bowdon Vale in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

The margin was six wickets. Chris Beech 6-28 and Adam Westwater 3-42 were the bowlers to shine whilst the best batsmen were Nick Hitchell unbeaten on 46 and Tim Hitchell 32 not out.

Eastham Bromborough took the Division Three derby at Tranmere Vics by two wickets. Ian Corner jnr played a key role with 7-43 and Andy Harvey was 75 not out. Gary Francis scored 44 for the losers.

Port Sunlight had four wickets to spare at Haslington II where Adam Crosby enjoyed a 5-40 haul.

Wirral lost by 70 runs at home to The Groves in Division Three of the Meller Braggins Cheshire League after being shot out for 55.
