Cheshire Alliance Division Two: Old Parkonians 207-7 (45) beat Knutsford 91 (34.5) by 116 runs

OLD Parkonians continued their 100 per cent record for the season with a 116-run victory at Knutsford.

The Holm Lane outfit completed their fourth win in four with a sizeable away victory last Saturday.

Skipper Chris Beckett lost the toss and was saw his side put into bat on a green and spongy pitch.

Sean Marnick (1) was soon out to a ball that kept very low. However, brothers Mike and Tim Hitchell were able to battle hard and post a superb second-wicket partnership worth 138 runs.

Tim was bowled for 73 with Mike out not too long after for 64 in his first innings of the season. Old Parks carried on to post a very competitive 207-7 from 45 overs.

In reply, Adam Winstanley removed both Knutsford openers before Dan Berkson struck with a direct hit run out.

Visiting skipper Beckett then produced a fine spell of bowling to disrupt the Knutsford batsmen, finishing with 6-22 as Knutsford were bowled out for 91 inside 35 overs.

Man of the match was the returning Tim Hitchell for his superb 73.A very timely knock.
