THERE was no joy for any of the local clubs in the Cheshire County League with Oxton and Neston losing in the Premier Division and Irby and Upton going under in Division Two.

Oxton posted 212-7 after being put in by Urmston but then the home side punished the bowling to cruise in by eight wickets.

Best for Oxton were Alex Money 66, Shaaiq Choudry 47 and Alex Hughes 45.

Neston restricted Nantwich to a 168 total with Paul Stimson claiming 5-65 but then stuttered to a 118 all out score.

Irby totalled just 76 at Poynton and lost by nine wickets.

Upton were all out for a meagre 55 at Northwich after Graeme Keenan with 6-29 had helped restrict the home side to 123.

There was agony for Birkenhead Park in the Premier Division of the Liverpool & District Competition as they lost by one wicket at Lytham. Park totalled 159 after electing to bat first. Rob Houghton then tried his best with 5-49 but Lytham made it with three balls to spare and their last men together.

Wallasey fell by four wickets at Fleetwood Hesketh. Alex Eagles hut an undefeated 66 and Graham Reid 54.

New Brighton drew at home to Ormskirk, closing 37 runs behind with three wickets intact. Upal Fernando contributed 40.

A sparkling 163 by Brynley Richards including seventeen fours and seven sixes helped Caldy win at Alder by 108 runs in Division Two. Others to shine were Chris Edwards 46 and Daniyal Khan 41 and 4-31.

Parkfield Liscard had 79 runs to spare against Sutton. The visitors were dismissed for 85 after the combined outfit declared on 164-6.

Birkenhead St Mary’s batted first at Skelmersdale but their 99 total was no where near enough as the Lancashire side knocked off the runs for the loss of just one wicket. Pooma de Silva top scored on 34 for the Saints.

Old Parkonians enjoyed a 56 runs success over Glazeberry in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance. Chris Hitchell hit 35 and brother Tim took 4-18.

Port Sunlight came away 45 runs to the good from Stalybridge St Paul. Mark Davies top scored with 56 and the bowlers to shine were Wayne Greve 4-15 and Grayson McMullen 4-21.

Tranmere Vics in Division Two found themselves without a game after Norbury failed to raise a side.

In the Alliance 20-over Knock- Out Cup on Sunday Port Sunlight accounted for Old Parkonians by six wickets.

The Bank Holiday Monday derby between New Brighton and Wallasey ended in a draw with the last Wallasey pair hanging on.

Louis Botes included 13 fours and three sixes in his 103 for the seasiders whilst Martyn Evans contributed 58. They put on 157 for the first wicket. Greg Beaver struck a vital 71 for Wallasey.

Matches this Saturday include a Birkenhead Park v New Brighton derby in the Premier Division of the Liverpool Competition.
