ALL-rounder Martyn Evans carried New Brighton to a 101 runs victory at Bootle in the Premier Division of the Liverpool and District Competition.

Evans struck 92 in a declared 252-8 total and then claimed 4-52 as the Liverpool outfit was restricted to 151 all out.

Wallasey secured a 27 runs success against visiting Maghull. Graham Reid top scored with 65 while Chris Bourne took 4-46.

It was not so good for Birkenhead Park who fell by 101 runs at home to Northern.

Adrian Kinsey did his best with 48 Parkfield Liscard took the Division Two derby at Birkenhead St Mary’s by 84 runs.

John McClennan contributed 49 to the combined side total and their bowlers to shine were Matt Keogh 6-26 and Grant Hughes 4-8.

Darcy Ward claimed 5-40 for Saints and Muhammad Qasim 4-34 but their batsmen could only muster 59 It has not been a good start to the campaign for the locals in the Cheshire County League as three lost for the second week running.

Shaaiq Choudhry took 5-54 for Oxton against Grappenhall as they totalled 186 in the Premier League. Oxton collapsed to just a 59 total..

Neston were eased out by nine wickets at home to Hyde. David Manchett struck an unbeaten 58.

Matt Ingram top scored for Upton on 45 at Heaton Moor but their 176 tally after being put in proved inadequate as the home side replied with 180-7. Gary Kennan had a 4-47 return.

Ellesmere Port and Old Parkonians both failed in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance, Port by 89 runs at home to Wilmslow and Parks by32 runs against visiting Saughall.

Maritime were conceded their Division Two match by Styal. Tranmere Vics did play and ended up winners by 62 runs over Westminster Park.

Best for the local side were Eddie Bryers 49 and Daniel Hamm 5-26.

In Division Three Eastham and Bromborough had an exciting draw at Port Sunlight II. The combined side made 187-6 (M Griffiths 89 not out) and Sunlight closed on 187-8 (M Parsons 76, B Parson 68).
