BIRKENHEAD Park signed off as Liverpool & District Competition Division One champions with a 32 runs victory at Wigan.

All-rounder Rob Houghton, who has enjoyed an excellent season, included 14 fours and three sixes in his 121, then followed up with a 3-48 haul.

Chris Foran also bowled steadily to claim 3-56.

It was not so good for Parkfield Liscard. They lost for the 13th time and are relegated. They were put out for 86 by visiting Northop Hall who replied with 87-4.

New Brighton went under by 12 runs at home to Northern in the Premier Division.

John While top scored with 60 while Andrew Evans, Mark Hale and Ashraf Nawab had three wickets apiece.

It was better for neighbours Wallasey, who find themselves two places above the seasiders.

Wallasey closed with a six wickets margin at Southport & Birkdale with the players in form being Graham Reid 45, Matthew Wilcox 5-29 and Neil Cross 4-37.

A tense Division Two derby saw Birkenhead St Mary’s ease home by one wicket against Caldy. It means the Saints finish tenth in the table just above their local rivals.

Caldy posted 120 with Paul Kearney top scorer on 25. Zahin Mohammed claimed 5-9 for the winners.

Darcy Wood hit a vital 40 in the Saints reply. Haroon Khan claimed 4-17 for Caldy but last men Muhammed Qasim and Dane Bryan held their nerve for the Birkenhead side.

Neston missed out on the Cheshire County League Premier Division title despite a massive 172 runs victory over Grappenhall at Parkgate.

David Hurst contributed 110 including a dozen fours and four sixes whilst Luke Camden hit an unbeaten 56.

Neston reached 230-5 and then dismissed the visitors for 58 with Andrew Clarke getting 4-15.

Oxton could not come to the aid of Neston as they lost by 77 runs at home to champions Chester Broughton Hall. Gayan Fernando did his best with 5-49 and 41 not out.

Irby in Division Two ended with a one wicket triumph at Alvanley and take ninth in their table.

The home side reached 188-8 off their 50 overs. Irby passed the total in their last over. Chris Caswell hit 51 and Andrew Williams 45.

Upton are champions of the top Cheshire League by just four points from Mobberley. They rounded off with a three wickets home success over Runcorn in a low scoring affair.

Wirral finish tenth in Division Three. They concluded with a five wickets home success at the expense of Trafford Metrovic.

Old Parkonians closed with a draw at champions Haslington in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance. Tim Hitchell top scored with 44 and Adam Westwater claimed 3-60.

Ellesmere Port finished seven wickets to the good at home to Appleton. Gareth Boys struck an undefeated half century and Paul Betteridge took 5-15.

Both the local clubs sit safe in the table.

Division Two champions Port Sunlight rounded off at Holmes Chapel – result awaited.

Tranmere Vics closed with a tense one wicket victory over Knutsford and take third place.
