ALL-ROUNDER Shaaiq Choudhry played a key role as Oxton enjoyed a 59 runs victory at Macclesfield in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League.

He top scored with 55 as Oxton reached 209-8 after being asked to bat first and then went on to claim 5-22 as the home side was restricted to 150.

Alex Hughes (53) and Gayan Fernando (48) also batted well.

Neston posted an 18 runs success at Chester Broughton Hall. Luke Camden, 82, and Will Evans, 63, were the batsmen in form in a 251-7 total after they were put in. Then Chris Finnegan with 4-19 helped dismiss Hall for 233.

In Division Two there was little joy for Irby at Poynton as they were beaten by eight wickets.

Mike Newman hit 44 but the 130 score after they were asked to bat first proved inadequate.

New Brighton and Wallasey both lost in the Premier Division of the Liverpool & District Competition.

The seasiders fell by 136 runs at home to Leigh. Tom Jones made an unbeaten 44.

Wallasey fell short by three runs at Northern where Neil Cross continued his good form with a 4-5 haul, Birkenhead Park had late order batsmen Alex Harris and Khalid Wahbi and bowler Rob Houghton to thank for a tense two runs success against visiting Newton Le Willows in Division One.

No 11 Harris with 33 and Wahbi 13 not out put on 45 for the last wicket to post a 149 total.

Then Houghton set to work and his 8-73 meant Willows just missed out.

Parkfield Liscard went under by eight wickets at Wigan. Their 101 total after being put in never looked like being enough.

Chris Edwards with 49 and a 5-39 take starred for Caldy in a two wickets triumph at Alder in Division Two.

It was not so good for Birkenhead St Mary’s who lost by 39 runs at Spring View where Mohammad Ghafoor claimed 4-43.

Upton comfortably saw off Prestbury in Division One of the Cheshire League. The visitors were dismissed for 94 chasing a 198-4 declared score.

There was also victory for Wirral in their Division Three home clash with The Groves. Wirral replied with 195-7 after The Groves declared on 193-9.

Old Parkonians disposed of Glazebury by 190 runs in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Greg Lindop contributed 71 before Adam Westwater and Tim Hitchell with nine wickets between them dismissed the visitors for a meagre 57.

Ellesmere Port crashed by 137 runs at Haslington where they totalled just 69.

A sparkling unbeaten 112 by Danny Van der Berg highlighted Port Sunlight’s 204 runs Division Two success over Frodsham. Chris Newton 41 and Wayne Greve 4-16 also did well.

There was also a win for Tranmere Vics by four wickets away to Bowdon.

Liverpool Competition fixtures this Saturday include New Brighton v Bootle, Wallasey at Lytham, Birkenhead Park at Liverpool, Parkfield Liscard v Orrell Red Triangle, Birkenhead St Mary’s v Sutton and Caldy at Spring View.

In the Cheshire County League it's a home day for the local clubs with Neston v Bowdon, Oxton v Didsbury and Irby v Congleton.

Upton in the Cheshire League head for Cheshire County Officers and Wirral to Winsford.

Cheshire Alliance games include Ellesmere Port v Old Parkonians, Port Sunlight at Heaton Mersey and Tranmere Vics v Mossley.
