WALLASEY had to settle for a draw and New Brighton lost in Liverpool and District Competition Premier League games last Saturday.

Graham Reid with a fine 112, Matt Wilcox 85 and Neil Cross undefeated on 49 helped Wallasey to a 269-4 declared total after they were put in at Highfield. The home side replied with 185-6.

New Brighton fell by 21 runs at home to Maghull. Ashraf Nawab 5-53 and Paul Hale with a half century tried their best.

Birkenhead Park took the Division One derby against Parkfield Liscard by 127 runs. Park declared on 259-6 with the main contributions via Mike Barnes 86, Ian Cooper 56 and Adrian Kinsey 47 not out.

Chris Stenhouse claimed 6-83 as the combined side fell well short. Muhammad Zulfiqar scored 43 for the losers.

Birkenhead St Mary’s maintained winning ways in Division Two. The margin was 41 runs against visiting Old Xavarians. St Mary’s posted 172 after being asked to bat first. Muhammad Ghafoor contributed 63. Muhammad Qasim finished with 5-42 in the Xavs reply of 131.

Caldy lost by 54 runs at Sutton, being all out for 126 chasing a 180-7 declared score.

Neston had to settle for a losing draw against Alderley Edge in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League. They closed on 234-9 after the visitors who were put in totalled 241-6. Best for Neston were David Hurst 78, Luke Camden 53 and Andrew Clarke 4-57.

Oxton lost by 64 runs at home to Hyde. Gayan Fernando returned 7-70 and Alex Money hit 45.

In Division Two, Irby had a losing draw at Weaverham who posted a massive 393-6. Irby closed on 160-7.

Upton enjoyed a five wickets success at Hale Barns in Division One of the Cheshire League. Chris Cunningham 6-26 helped restrict the home side to 172. Matthew Smith then hit a maiden century 102 not out and was ably supported by Matt Ingram who scored 38 in a 142 partnership.

Wirral in Division Three lost by 40 runs at Pott Shrigley after being dismissed for 89.

Old Parkonians and Ellesmere Port both drew in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance. Rob Marnick took 4-47 for Parks at Wistaston Village.

There was also a draw for Tranmere Vics at home to Frodsham in Division Two but it was better for Port Sunlight who made it by two wickets at Offerton.

New Brighton have Lytham as visitors in the Premier Division of the Liverpool Competition this Saturday whilst Wallasey take the road to Maghull.

Lower down the scale, Birkenhead Park entertain Rainford, Parkfield Liscard are due at Orrell Red Triangle, Birkenhead St Mary’s head for Wavertree and Caldy journey to Skelmersdale.

Top games in the Cheshire County League include Neston at Macclesfield and Oxton at Nantwich. Irby also travel to Bollington.

Cheshire Alliance matches include Old Parkonians v Stalybridge St Pauls, Ellesmere Port v Wilmslow, Offerton v Tranmere Vics and Port Sunlight v Styall.

Upton welcome Winnington Park in Cheshire League Division One with Wirral at home to Over Peover two leagues down.
