OXTON and Neston both gained sound successes in their latest outing in the Premier Division of the Cheshire County League.

The Birkenhead side cantered home by eight wickets at Alderley Edge.

They restricted the home side to 199-9 and then Simon Stokes with 122 including eighteen fours and three sixes and Andrew Gibson undefeated on 57 punished the home bowlers.

Neston were put in at Toft and responded with a 298 total. Will Evans led the way with 143 which included nineteen fours and two sixes. Dane Williams 74 and Chris Hackett 42 batted well.

Toft were restricted to 201 with Paul Stimson taking 4-47 giving a margin of victory of 97 runs.

Irby in Division Two fell by six wickets away to Warrington who reached 152-4 after Irby posted 149-6 from fifty overs.

Wallasey enjoyed a 104 runs margin over Fleetwood Hesketh in the Premier Division of the Liverpool Competition. Neil Cross led the way with a knock of 51 followed by a 5-19 haul. Mark Wilkie contributed 49.

New Brighton also had a good afternoon with a 17 runs success at Hightown.

Cornelius De Villiers 97 and David While 4-42 were prominent. Rob Houghton enjoyed a good day as Birkenhead Park accounted for Formby by 116 runs in Division One.

He top scored with 44 in a 216-9 total and then claimed 5-13 in the Formby reply. Chris Stenhouse was the other successful bowler with 5-50.

Parkfield Liscard had a four wickets margin at Ainsdale.

Batsmen to the fore were Rameez Ahmed 70, Rash Riaz 61 and Muhammad Zulfiquar 46 not out.

Birkenhead St Mary’s maintained their good form as they saw off Alder by 21 runs in Division Two.

Mike Bowe 56, Muhammed Ghafoor 46 and David Stewart unbeaten on 40 were main contributors in a 210-6 declared total. Zahib Mohammed took 4-41 as Alder fell short.

Upton edged a close game in Cheshire League Division One against visiting Ashton on Mersey.

It was easier for Wirral in Division Three as they cruised in by eight wickets at the expense of Disley.

Old Parkonians went under by 55 runs at home to Stretton in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance.

Adam Westwater 5-37 and Chris Beckett 3-59 helped restrict the visitors to 126 but then the Parks batsmen failed as they were dismissed for a meagre 71.

Ellesmere Port drew with Stalybridge St Pauls. Gareth Boys contributed 45 and Paul Betteridge claimed 4-38.
