IN extremely windy conditions Tixall's Jamie Fitzpatrick took all the weather could throw at him and almost unbelievably took his sixth win in just seven visits to the Winter Flyers in Birkenhead Park this autumn.

This time it was New Brighton Quarry Viking's John Cosgrove who faced him in the final but, despite the wind being strong enough to blow down two trees near the green Fitzpatrick was in imperious form and he bowled his way to a fairly straightforward victory.

To reach the final Fitzpatrick had been at his absolute best in his quarter final game against his biggest rival, team mate Mick Andrews, coming through 21-19 before he was too good for Vic Alcock of Ledsham Royal in the semi final.

Cosgrove, in only his third visit in this series of tournaments, had two reasonably comfortable wins over two players who are both high up in the points table, New Brighton Quarry Viking's John Harrison in the quarters and then Lever's Colin Portis in the semi final.

Cosgrove did all he could in the final but Fitzpatrick's nagging accuracy was just too much for him.
