THE Birkenhead and District Parks team suffered another very narrow defeat in their latest game on Sunday, this time to Central Lancashire.

The home team, playing at Heswall, had eight winners with Darren Hankin's 21-08 win the best result and they won by 22 points.

However the away team playing in Rochdale lost their match by 28 points. They had four winners with Chris and Andy Eccles both winning 21-12.

This meant that though both Birkenhead and Central Lancashire had 12 individual winners the six points difference in favour of the team from Lancashire meant that the overall result was a 14-17 defeat for Birkenhead.

The Wallasey League's Association Cup final was played on Saturday 16th May on the Manor Road green between Great Meols and New Brighton Quarry Vikings 'C' with Great Meols giving their opponents a 48 point start.

After the first six games it looked as though this would be no problem for the team from Meols as they had won all of the games and taken a 14-point lead but then the 'Vikings' staged an amazing comeback.

They won all the final six games, Ryan Kearney top scoring with a 21-08 victory, and won by 24 points.

Hard luck Meols but congratulations to the winning team.
