TIXALL'S Mick Andrews created his own storm at the 'winter' flyers in Birkenhead Park when he recorded his second win in this series of tournaments and moved to joint top of the points leader board with New Brighton Queens Royal's Eddie Dutton.

To reach this week's final he had had to beat Dutton in a close game in the quarters before just scraping through another difficult game in the semi final against the always dangerous Paul Roberts over from Wales.

In the final Andrews met Birkenhead Park's Ritchie Marshall who had had played really well in reaching this stage.

He beat last week's winner Gladstone's Ray Lynch in the quarter finals and then Tommy Walker of Hoylake Central in the semis.

In keeping with many of this weeks matches the final was another tight affair but Andrews eventually won through 21-18.

Results:

Quarter-finals: R. Marshall 21, R. Lynch 15; T. Walker 21, F. Leech 17; M. Andrews 21, E. Dutton 18; P. Roberts 21, J. Smith 19.

Semi-finals: Marshall 21, Walker 14; Andrews 21, Roberts 18. Final: Andrews 21, Marshall 18.
