HESWALL RBL's Dave McDermott played tremendously well to reach the semi-finals of the All England Championship over the weekend but unfortunately he then lost to Greg Smith who went on to win the tournament.

On Sunday, the Birkenhead and District Vets team could not manage to retain their British Parks Veterans team title being beaten by 'the homesters' Greater Manchester at the semi final stage.

The three Wallasey Association teams fell at the qualifying stage but all the players enjoyed a great day out.

The final of the ASM pairs was won by the pairing of Dave Carter and Terry Glover who beat Matt Gilmore and Robbie Hall 21-17.

Bronze became the first team to be confirmed as the winners of one of the local leagues when they defeated their closest rival, Sacred Heart, to take the Wallasey Association third division.

The Wirral and District's Graham White final will be held this Wednesday, July 31, at Bromborough Pool starting at 6.30pm.

Any youngsters who would like to try their hand at the sport of Crown Green Bowling are invited to come along to "WUDS 4 FUN" on the greens in Birkenhead Park.

There are four dates to start with, Tuesday, August 6, and Thursday, August 8; and the same days the following week, between 10am and noon.

Apology: I would like to apologise to the players of New Brighton Queens Royal.

The very strong favourites to take the Wallasey Association's first division title are New Brighton Queens Royal not New Brighton Quarry Vikings. Maybe it will be next year for the Vikings!
