IT was a great day for the remaining two Wirral teams in the Brunner Cup on Saturday.

Tixall absolutely battered the strong Houldsworth team and won by 68 points, a tremendous win.

Ian Hazlehurst, 21-04, and Phil Lee, 21-05, both had single figure wins. Meanwhile Gladstone also had a good win over Poynton Sports and both go through to the semi finals on July 13.

Tixall will play Castle Private and Gladstone will take on Lloyds Hotel. Could it be an all Wirral final?

In the final of the Bebington and District's Andy Dawson tournament on Port Sunlight Village and Works green, Kendall took the trophy beating Neston by 225-203.

On the Isle of Man last week Matthew Gilmore and Robbie Fitzpatrick did well to get through to the quarter final stage of the main tournament which was won by John Bailey.

It is very close at the top of the first division of the Bebington and District Bowling League with the Lever Club in top spot with ten wins out of eleven games.

They are closely followed by last year's winners Gladstone who, though they are two points behind, have played one game less.

In the second division Lever 'B' lead the way, previous leaders Port Sunlight Village and Works dropped to second place after losing away to West Kirby Park.

In the third division Arno and Bebington Park are tied at the top but the Bebington team have played one game less.

Sacred Heart seem to be running away with the first division of the North Wirral League.

They lead by four clear points, still undefeated after five games. The second division is much closer with New Brighton Quarry Vikings leading by just one point from Grange and Great Float.

Next Sunday the newly-instituted Merseyside CGBA Champion of |Champion's Tournament is being played at West Derby Rec. The event gets underway at 10am.
