THE League and Club Cup competitions are continuing during each week but there are also several important events coming up in the near future.

Next Sunday, May 12, the Wallasey Individual Merit Tournament is taking place in Harrison Park.

This is a free to enter event and is open to all players registered in the the Wallasey Association. Players should report in by 10.30am and the draw will be made at this time and it is hoped that play will be under way by 10.45am.

As with all individual tournaments players should be aware that the accepted dress code applies.

The following Sunday, both the Birkenhead and District and the Wallasey Association teams are involved in this season's first county games.

Birkenhead and District are taking on close neighbours Cheshire with the home game being played on the green at Heswall RBL and the away team is travelling to the Victoria Bowling Club in Offerton, Stockport.

Meanwhile Wallasey are playing the strong Greater Manchester team with their home match at the Manor Road Club and the away team at the Hopwood Unionist Bowling Club, Heywood, Rochdale.

All the games start at 2pm and the teams would really welcome some support to cheer them on.

The Wirral Merit Tournament is taking place on Sunday, May 26.

The competition will be at the Lever Club and Port Sunlight Village and Works starting at 1am Could all players please note that the closing date for entry to this Tournament is Saturday, May 18.

Entries are also now being invited for the very popular Magazine Charity Pairs Tournament which has raised a lot of money over the years for many worthwhile local charities.

This year the event is taking place on Saturday, June 8, with play starting at 9am.

Pairs can be ladies or gentlemen or mixed and it is £3 per person to enter; the closing date for entries is Monday, May 20. All Club Secretaries have an entry form but anyone wishing to enter can ring Sam Robinson on 638 0394.
