John Jones picks up second Sunday Flyers win of the season

ON yet another lovely sunny morning on the Wirral (we are being very lucky with the weather) the consistent John Jones, who plays his bowls at the Baileys Hill club in North Wales, had his second win in this session of the Sunday Flyers and this meant he moved into second place in the points table.

In the final he beat the Lever Club's Dougie Briscoe, who had had a very good morning in the sun.

Jones had an excellent win in the quarters over the winner from two weeks ago, the Magazines Club's Fred Arnell, before he beat Tixall's  Ian Hazlehurst in the semi final in another close game.

Briscoe was too good for Queens Royal's Eddie Dutton in their quarter final match and he then beat another bowler from North Wales, Roger Griffiths, in the semis.

In the final Jones always had the edge over Briscoe and he ran out a 21-15 winner.

Results:

Quarter Finals:  J.Jones 21, F. Arnell 18;  I. Hazlehurst 21, A. O'Neill 14;  D. Briscoe 21, E. Dutton 12;  R. Griffiths 21, T. Walker 20.

Semi Finals:  Jones 21, Hazlehurst 17;  Briscoe 21, Griffiths 13.  Final:  Jones 21, Briscoe 15.
