Wirral sailing blown off course by weather
2:33pm Tuesday 2nd October 2012 in Sport By Andrew Stratton
THERE was a disappointing season’s end to the tidal programme at both West Kirby and Hoylake at the weekend when strong winds prevented competition from going ahead.
West Kirby did stage dinghy racing on the Marine Lake on Sunday but only a handful of craft set sail.
Bob Mosedale in Piggledee Higgledee took the Fast Handicap and Harry McEvoy sailed over in Fat Fish in the Slow Handicap.
Five yachts ventured out on Saturday on the Mersey in the Liverpool Yacht Club/Tranmere Sailing Club Venture series. Only two finished with Bare Necessity (C.Cooper & W.Stanistreet) taking Class One and Kahu (D Gray) Class Two.
Thirteen yachts set sail in race three of the autumn series on Sunday. Richard Booth in Another Nods headed Class A from Bade Bing (A Farrell & A Napper). Class B went to Stuart Lofthouse in Skukusa ahead of Di-Rich (A McKenna).
