DIVISION Three minnows Bronze Social proudly carried the Carlsberg West Cheshire League banner into the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup third round on Saturday, when they eliminated Old Altrinchamians in extra-time at Levers.

The Wallasey club celebrated a 2-1 victory, thanks to goals from Jay Thompson and Gary Baker, and are now the sole Division Three survivors.

Of the 14 ties which took place, 13 were played to a conclusion. Castrol Social are set to replay against Witton Albion Reserves this Saturday, following a tense 2-2 stalemate.

In all, 10 West Cheshire sides booked their places in the third round . . .

Holders Cammell Laird Reserves came unstuck at Division Two promotion chasers Capenhurst Villa, who recorded a shock 2-1 extra-time win. Sparky Ryan and Mike Mackin netted for Cape and Liam Kennedy obliged with Laird's consolation.

A solitary goal by Mike Moran secured Upton AA's passage at the expense of Stockport Georgians, while a smart double from James Clare anchored New Brighton to a 3-2 success at Runcorn Town. Paul Hart and Gary Jaques scored for the hosts.

Dave Hall followed suit with two goals for Ellesmere Port in their 4-2 eclipse of Chester Nomads, while Jamie Kenyon was another two goal star. He put Heswall on course for a 4-0 decision over Mersey Royal. Further goals by Carl Dunbar and Colin O'Hanlon completed the total.

Form side Ashville triumphed 3-0 against Knutsford, courtesy of a goal apiece from Simon Donaghue, Gary McGuinness and Chris Forbes.

Poulton Victoria accounted for West Kirby, Danny Edwards and Darren McGuinness on target in a 2-1 triumph.

Doubles from Chris Herbert and Paul Hallows inspired current Division One leaders Christleton to a 5-0 rout of Chester rivals Blacon YC - and two-goal hot-shot Anthony Carroll was the driving force behind Vauxhall Motors Reserves' 4-1 verdict over Mid-Cheshire Leaguers Barnton.

On the domestic scene, Poulton Victoria Reserves regained top spot in Division Two, after Tommy Baker, Philly Greenhalgh and Ian Burrows bagged the goals in a 3-1 victory over Helsby. Despite a goal from Shaun Keevey, Mallaby lost further ground after efforts from Danny Sheratt and Peter Simon earned Ashville Reserves a 2-1 result.

FC Pensby scored via Mark Irvine, but conceded to replies from Christleton Reserves' Andy White, Andy Cross and Lee Butterworth.

Elsewhere, 90 minutes failed to produce a goal between Maghull Reserves and West Kirby Reserves.

Division Three leaders Bebington Athletic consolidated their position at the top of the table after goals from Graeme Carvell, 2, James Douglas and Matty Earp secured a 4-1 result against Focus, while strongly fancied Manor Athletic slumped to a surprise 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Capenhurst Villa Reserves (Chris Rushton and Chris McNeill).

Youth Division action saw Mike Scullion bag four goals for Hale in their 6-4 win at West Kirby. Ally Woodstock and Chris Ford were on target for Richmond Raith Rovers, but it was visitors Hale who went home with the points, after efforts from Shaun Calland, Fasilli Poza, Darren Faye and James Bradley sparked a 4-2 victory.
