Sailing: West Lancashire Yacht Race

HOYLAKE Sailing Club finished seventh Enterprise and a creditable 23rd overall in the West Lancashire Yacht Club 24-Hour Race on Southport Lake at the weekend.
Conditions favoured the GP 14s which occupied the first nine places. Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club were the overall winners ahead of South Staffs and Budworth.
Roger Glover and Andy Mearns won West Kirby Sailing Club Hilbre Class races on the Dee Estuary and Nick Ledingham took the winning gun twice in the Stars. Falcon races went to John Burthem and Martin Whittingham-Jones.
Liverpool Yacht Club/Tranmere Sailing Club staged the opening races in their Early Autumn series on the River Mersey.
Class One was taken by the Humphries 30 Bada Bing owned by Andy Napper and Alec Farrell ahead of a Corby 29 Eezie Tiger (Jon Oliver).
Class Two went to Di-Rich, a Westerly GK 24, owned by Adele McKenna with Stuart Lofthouse runner-up in a Hunter Impala Skukusa.
West Kirby this Saturday stage a 10-hour charity race on the Marine Lake with a noon start.
