New Brighton denied by Bootle tailenders

THERE was disappointment for New Brighton as they were denied victory by the last Bootle pair in their latest outing in the Premier Division of the Bridging Finance Solutions Liverpool Competition.
Martyn Evans included seventeen fours in his unbeaten 131 for the seasiders and enjoyed a 113 seventh wickets partnership with Paul Hale who struck a half century. Andrew Evans took 4-38.
Wallasey met with a four wickets set back at Ainsdale. David Miles at number eight rescued the Wallasey innings with 65. Later Chris Bourne claimed 5-42 but Ainsdale were not to be denied.
Birkenhead Park easily claimed the Division Two derby against Birkenhead St Mary’s. The Saints after being put in totalled just 67 with Chris Stenhouse returning 6-36. Park eased home by nine wickets.
There was agony for Caldy in a one run reverse at home to St Helens Recs. Dave Kay claimed 5-27.
Neston went under by 102 runs at Marple in the Premier Division of the Chapel Press Cheshire County League. Chad Wilson did best with 4-30.
Oxton enjoyed a six wickets victory at Macclesfield. Andrew Birley 5-18 and Gayan Fernando 5-34 restricted the home side to a meagre 53 and despite a slight stutter Oxton cruised home.
John Mallichan claimed 4-40 for Irby in a five wickets reverse at Christleton.
Upton went under by six wickets at home to Cheadle. Jared van Heerden did his best with a knock of 64.
Parkonians are in relegation danger in Division One of the Cheshire Alliance after their match at Frodsham was off due to a waterlogged pitch.
In Division Three, Tranmere Vics fell by 33 runs at Capenhurst. Eddie Bryers contributed 47.
It was better for Port Sunlight who had five wickets to spare in a low scoring affair against Frodsham II.
Eastham Bromborough had to settle for a draw against Ellesmere Port II. Ian Corner jnr claimed 5-72.
Wirral in Meller Braggins Division Three enjoyed a 107 runs margin against visiting Stretton.
