Wirral sailors have fingers crossed for weekend sunshine

HOYLAKE Sailing Club is looking for a weather boost this weekend for their Annual Regatta which celebrates 125 years of sailing off Hoylake and Meols.
There will be racing over two days with up to seven classes in action in the early afternoon. There will also be a junior regatta on West Kirby Lake on Friday evening with a 7pm start.
The popular Reverbs will provide entertainment on Saturday evening at the clubhouse for the regatta dance and tickets are available on the door.
The Hoylake event ends the local regatta programme before crews head off for the Menai Strait Fortnight which begins on August 6. Hoylake will be hosts at Beaumaris on Wednesday, August 15, with a 10am start, and Royal Mersey will be in charge the following day also at Beaumaris.
Most of the tidal classes from Merseyside and Wirral will feature at Menai when highlights include the Beaumaris to Caernarvon Race through the treacherous Swellies on August 9 and the Round Puffin Island Race on August 14.
