SAILING enthusiasts are keeping their fingers crossed for favourable conditions for a three day Regatta programme on the Dee Estuary this coming weekend.
Dee Sailing Club will take pride of place with their Centenary event on Saturday.
The West Kirby event is scheduled for Sunday but they will also be hosting a River Dee Regatta on Friday.
It is many years now since the three day Wirral Family Regatta but officials are hoping there will be a reasonable turn out for the Friday racing.
Nearly all the local classes will be in action and the competition will be in the early afternoon.
West Kirby also put on a two day Firefly Open on Saturday and Sunday and a Lark Open on Sunday.
Meanwhile Isador (Martin Whittingham-Jones) and Whitehawk (Phil Cheshire) won the latest Falcon Class races on the Estuary.
Highwayman (Roger Glover) and Hirondelle (Chris Riley) shared the Hilbre honours and there were Star successes for Ian Eccles in Capella and the syndicate owned Carina.
Handicap dinghy races were taken by Stewart Dawson in an RS 300 and Martin Hartley in a Solo.
At Hoylake Phil Roberts in Orchid led the Operas in a Series race whilst the Third Hands Race was won by Jo Chubbs in Fidelio.
