GOLFERS from across the region will once again attempt a record breaking effort to raise funds for cancer research later this month.
Players and supporters will descend on Wallasey Golf Club on July 20 for WallaseyforWirral's third annual charity golf event.
Last year over 250 players and spectators including ex-Evertonian John Ebrell took to the greens to raise money for Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology and for other local good causes.
After a very successful round of golf, with a fully fitted kitchen on offer for a hole in one competition was high.
Over £5300 was raised during the day, which was presented to Diane Hummerston, Head of Fundraising on behalf of Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology.
Now in its third year, the event will be based on teams of four playing stableford with the best three scores counted.
Jason Bennett, event co-ordinator says "Once again after the success of last year, with a fantastic turnout of players and spectators on the day raising so much money for local good causes I just can't wait to get on the greens and beat our previous record."
The entry fee, which includes bacon sandwiches on arrival and a buffet, is £250 a team.
A presentation to players including a raffle will be held at the club, followed by an evening's entertainment in the Lighthouse Pub, Wallasey Village.
Tee times are still available and the organisers would particularly welcome any donations or sponsorship on the day.
