VAUXHALL Motors maintained their unbeaten record and were elevated to second place in the race for the Carlsberg West Cheshire League's Division One title after they pulled off a superb 4-2 result at reigning champions, Newton.

A fine double from Ryan Nightingale, was supplemented by further efforts from Tom Davies and Josh Donnelly, as the Motormen went up through the gears and registered their fourth win of the season.

Gerard King and Jamie Butterworth netted the hosts' consolations.

Despite a Jack Delgado effort, Chester Nomads finished second best in their tussle with Heswall, who profited 3-1, courtesy of a goal apiece from Hayden Cooper, Greg Stones and Jack Horrocks but Chester neighbours, Upton AA, savoured a better day, after an Alan Dorian hat trick helped them to a 5-1 victory over Mallaby.

Joe Ormerod and Steve Rowlands were also on target.

Danny Murphy scored a late reply for the visitors.

Anthony Poole was on the mark for Redgate Rovers, but Phil Fitzpatrick hit back and guided basement club West Kirby to their first point of the season.

Only one game took place in Division Two, and it turned out to be a good day for Ashville Res. who overcame Prescot Cables Res. 4-1 with goals from Laurence Harris, Peter Hoy, Ryan Smith and Stuart Hardman.

Saturday's Division Three action saw Jack Edwards bag both goals as Litherland Remyca Res wiped out an opener from Capenhurst Villa Res. 

Corey Beavan and Tommy Carrol followed suit, his double inspiring Poulton Royal to a 2-0 decision over Cheshire Lines Res.

Doubles from Dave Shipman and Kaleb Jones, allied to further efforts from Kieran Moran and Tom Gledhill anchored top scorers, Mossley Hill Ath. Youth to a 6-0 win over Maghull Youth in the youth division.

Liam Murphy, Jordan McDonaough and Liam O'Flaherty shared the goals, as unbeaten leaders, South Liverpool Youth, safeguarded their 100% record after beating Litherland Remyca Youth 3-2.

Peter Silcock plundered both replies for the visitors, while Ellis Byrne and Kane Welding hit the target, in Vauxhall Motors Youth's 2-0 result at West Kirby Youth.

Elsewhere, Efforts from Runcorn Linnets Youth's Harrison Robertson and Jack Samuel were to no avail, after vistors Maghull Town emerged 4-2 victors, thanks to replies from Ewan Beckwith (2), Ethan Cowell and Jamie Whittle.

Goals were in abundance in the West Cheshire Shield first round, highlighted by Wirral SB, who celebrated an 8-3 triumph over Ellesmere Port Town Res, with hat trick heroes Ross Pringle and Jack McGrotty leaving their calling cards.

Andy Rogers and Adam Smith both struck twice and were joined on the scoresheet by Charlie Norman and Jamie Leyland, as strongly fancied Mersey Royal romped home 6-0 against Chester Nomads Res.

After 90 minutes and extra-time produced a 4-4 stalemate, Redgate Rovers Res earned the nod over Burscough Dynamo, when they won 5-4 on pens.

Luke Blondel (3), Jake Hulley, Jordan Davies and Sean Brady were on the mark as Neston Nomads Res accounted for Marshalls Res 6-1.

Representing the Liverpool County FA, West Cheshire Division One leaders, South Liverpool, scored through Danny Ventre, but their Northern Counties Cup journey was short lived, after they suffered a 2-1 reversal at the hands of Milnthorpe Corinthians, representing the Westmoreland CFA.

Mossley Hill Ath. hit top form in their Liverpool County FA Challenge Cup second round clash with Ashton. Elliot Hughes (2), Ollie Sanderson, Dave Baird and Tom McNamara netted in a comfortable 5-0 victory and it was celebration time for Division One rivals, Richmond Raith Rovers, after doubles from Mike Wynne, Jay O'Donnel and Anthony Lee sparked a 6-3 triumph at St. Michaels DH.

Maghull were indebted to a Joe Peacock effort and an own goal which secured a 2-1 passage at the expense of Billinge while a solitary effort from Marshalls' Joe Coker was enough to curtail Knowlsley North's interests.
