WITH promotion back to the Carlsberg West Cheshire League's Division One assured, Ashville maintained their three-pronged attack on silverware.

A Sam Hunt double, allied to an Ollie Sanderson effort, secured their 3-1 victory over Mossley Hill Athletic Reserves and victory at Maghull Res in their final league fixture, will see John Graham's consistent performers pip current leaders, Marshalls to the title.

With the Cheshire FA Amateur Cup final this Friday at Vauxhalls (7pm) against Neston Nomads followed by next Wednesday's Wirral & District FA's Senior Cup final against Newton at Cammell Laird (7pm) the Wallasey club have enjoyed an excellent season.

The celebrations began early, after their reserve side bagged the Wirral & District FA's Amateur Cup, on Easter Monday, when efforts from Andy Noonan, John White and Stuart Hardman secured a 3-2 extra time decision over Ellesmere Port Town Res.

Congratulations to Newton, who were crowned Division One champions for the first time since 2004, after they won 4-1 on Wednesday against Chester Nomads, courtesy of a goal apiece from Ross McDowell.

Mossley Hill Athletic took a step nearer the runners-up medals, after a smart double from Tom McNamara anchored them to a 2-1 result at Heswall in midweek.

Despite a goal from Jonn Coulter, South Liverpool's chances of finishing second suffered after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Upton AA on Wednesday, but rejoined the race after Alex Woodcock struck three times in Saturday's 4-1 eclipse of Chester Nomads.

Adam Bennet and Bernie Holmes scored for Mallaby who lost 7-2 to replies from Redgate Rovers' Anthony Poole (2), Sam Corlett, Craig Blackwell, Mark Baddelly, John Fell and Robbie McDonald.

Wayne Smith, Danny Dillon, Mike Cummings, Dom Talbot and Steve Williams all made the scoresheet, as Maghull romped home 5-1 aganist Capenhurst Villa while Ezekiel Bademosi (3), Tom Williams, Sean Keyes, Ben Greenhop and Ryan Nightingale shared the goals in Vauxhall Motors' 7-3 triumph over Richmond Raith Rovers. Aiden Preston scored all three goals for Rovers.

Colin Gannon obliged with both goals for Rainhill Town, but it was Chester visitors, Upton AA, who profited, when replies from Luke Finch (2), Lee Guiardo (2) and Alan Dorian inspired a 5-2 triumph.

A solitary effort from Ralph Welch was enough, as current Division Two leaders, Marshalls, completed their programme with maximum spoils from their tussle with Heswall Res while Ashton, Charlie and Joey Gibiliru kept it in the family, after they all found the net when Prescot Cables Res overcame Willaston 3-1.

Elsewhere, efforts from Liam Vogel and Dylan Fitzsimmons steered Maghull Res to a 2-1 success at Neston Nomads who hit back via Rob Cottrell.

In Division Three, after losing 2-1 at Litherland Remyca Res, Ellesmere Port Town opened the door for Cheshire Lines to snatch the runners-up spot behind newly crowned champions, Rainhill Town Res.

Adam Smith, Matty Irlam and Matty Page netted for Capenhurst Villa Res, who beat the champions 3-0.

It was celebration time for Ashville Res, who were indebted to efforts from Lee Dermody and Ryan Clarke for their 2-1 verdict over Marshalls Res.

Youth Division leaders, South Liverpool Youth, maintained pole position, after they beat Princes Villa Youth 5-3, thanks to goals from Luke Wilson (2) John Morgan (2) and Dave Cleland.
