A REGAL performance from Poulton Royal in the Cheshire FA Sunday Cup 2nd round resulted in a 6-0 defeat of Axis United as John Pomphrett blasted a superb five goals with Aaron Griffiths adding the sixth to put them into round three.

Not so fortunate were Millhouse, who drew 3-3 after extra time with goals from Danni Kelly and Tom Quinn-2, but went out after a penalty shoot-out against Whitby Woodlands 4-2.

Capitol Cup first round action was badly affected by failure of referee’s to attend fixtures but of the games played one produced a major shock as youth team Neston Nomads beat division one side Matrix FC 6-0 thanks to Rob Hicks-2, Andrew Halfhead, Suphot Thiamdong, Ross Mitchell and Ralph Nolan netting the vital goals.

No further upsets as Wallasey Oval beat Wallasey Wanderers 8-0 with goal from Matty Hughes-2, John Ward-2, Tom Ward, Ollie Bradley, Andy Ward and Chris Penketh.

A solitary goal from Keiran Morgan saw Saddle ride past Cavendish FC 1-0 and Upton Town did likewise as they beat Eastham Rangers 1-0 with a goal from Steve McDermott.

Liver View saw their way past Eastham Rangers Youth with a 3-0 success in which Adam Chadwick netted a brace and Scott Tebb completed the scoring.

Only one game in division One saw a nine goal thriller as AFC Tima edged home 5-4 versus ten man Upton FC thanks to Charlie Roberts firing a foursome and Mike Redgrift added a single, with the replies coming from Reece Mearns, Mike Large, Sean Walker and Matty Westhead.

In division Two Poulton Vics closed the gap at the top when winning 7-1 versus Halfway House (Ben Leyton) as Sean Wright-2, Aaron Cummins-2, Chris Griffiths, Craig Kay and Kyle Birch found the target.

Moving up to third are Poulton Vics Youth who rolled over Stanleys Cask 3-0 with goals from James Bailey, Brad Greer and Lewis Clarke.

Eleven goals came in the Dundee Youth division between Oldershaw Athletic and Upton Youth and saw Athletic take the points in a 6-5 victory. On target for Upton were Louie Donaldson-2, Kyle Lynch-2 and Jake Hughes, but bagging the winning goals were Manny Mithie-Nelson, Lewis Hilton, Leon Nelson, Aaron Kearns, Lewis Griffin and Jack Beggs in a great game.

FC Phoenix maintained their 100% start to the season in the Grove Youth division when taking the spoils versus Eastham Rangers Jets (Connor Smith) in a 3-1 win due to a Lee McNulty double and a single from Ollie Lowe.

Rising up to second spot are Higher Beb JFC after beating Heswall Blue (Ellis Williams & Ryan Regan) 4-2 thanks to a brace from Josh Pointon and singles from Adam Smith and Gary Beckwark.

A two-goal salvo by Paul Keenan earned Irby Youth a 2-0 victory over Eastham Rangers Colts who remain in the bottom two.
